AUGUST 16, 1945 Aboard the USS San Diego in the Pacific, Robert U Fox. 20. watertender. second class, USNR, r. 1 Milford, and die other members of the engineering department of dns ship have been commended by their commanding officer , for efficiency and devotion to duty. Dr Verri Stockberger and Mrs. Katherine Hams were unjited in marriage Thursday afternoon. August 9. at Dr. Stockberger’s residence Dr Stockberger is a prominent Milford dentist and Mrs. Stockberger is a practical nurse of several years experience. In honor of her birthday. Miss Joy Poe was pleasantly surprised when her sisters, the Mesdames Wavne Bucher, Delbert Dippon. and James Barnes, entertained for her Saturday evening in the Dippon home. Funeral services for Mrs. Wayne (Celia Belle Wuthrieh, 19. were held Friday at die Stony Point church. She died Wednesday at her home west of Leesburg. Surviving are the husband; her parents, John W and Lola 'Troup 1 Thomas; and a brother, Wayne, of Atw'ood. Mrs D.ivnf <; Clem and Mrs Robert L Laudeman recently sold their property on W. Emeline street to Mr and Mrs. Alfred D Wlisoo. Mr and Mrs Warren L Shively of Nappanee announce the engagement of their daughter, Peggy, to Pfc Ned Bott, son of Mrs George Bott, of Ashland, 0. Neb. to assume her duties as fifth grade teacher in the schools there. j Jackie Darr, two-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Darr. injured his arm last week from the hand almost to his shoulder when it* became caught in an electric washing machine wringer. Mr. and Mrs Bruce Lemmert attended the Lemmert reunion .at North Liberty Sunday. Farrel Cain, who is a member of the National Guards, has returned from a two weeks’ stay at Camp Knox. Ky , where he had been engaged in military activities. AUGUST 20. 1925 Mrs Ella Haney. 57, of near Milford. died in the Epvvorth hospital at South Bend Thursday evening about 20 minutes after being run over by an automobile.
