4-H Home Economics Judging Completed The 4-H home economics piujects judging has been completed. Tin? j exhibits will be made at tlx- fair, j Mrs. Mae Staley, county 4-H lead- j cr, organized tin* series of community judging starting on July 20 at the fairgrounds and completed on July 26. Exhibits were held also at the Ciajrpool and Milford schools. The system of ty judging allows each 4-H club member a chance to sec* her project placed and j the judge, can point out the reason j for the placing. RULES AND REGULATIONS I. The officers of the Fair will take every precaution with animals and fowls and articles on exhibit, but will hot be responsible for loss or damage that may occur. Exhibitors are requested to give personal attention to their property. 2 All entries are free and are limited to Kosciusko county, except members of Kosciusko County AH Clubs living outside the county who must enter in a AH exhibit before entering in open class. This paragraph does not apply to open class of Dairy Breeders’ Show. 3. All exhibits must be owned by exhibitor and kept for their use. Entries must specify owner’s name and address, and must be made regularly through the Secretary and have the Secretary’s card attached. 4. Inquiries must be made of the Secretary or the Superintendent df the department in which information is desired, a.list of which is found elsew'here herein. 5. Award of premiums will be designated by ribbons of the usual colors and will be made on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and sth days of the Fair. Premium ribbons will be attached at the time of awarding. 6. Persons desiring space for exhibits should make the same known to the Secretary at their earliest convenience, and must take their article to the place provided; otherwise they will not come under the inspection of the judges. 7. Great care will be used in selecting competent judges who act under the committeemen of their department. All exhibitors are barred from acting as judges in any department in which they may exhibit. 8. Judges will report decisions to the Secretary, who will give orders to the-proper party calling for premium. 9. The payment of premiums wull be in cash, by order of the Superintendent or the Treasurer, Hal Stroh, at the Fairgrounds office on Friday. All premiums not claimed within ten days will be forfeited. This does not apply to exhibits in Women’s Building. Premiums in Women’s Building will be paid on Saturday between 10:00 and 1:00. 10. Misrepresentation in regard to any entries will work a forfeiture of premium. . ” . 11. (a) No animal exhibited shall be removed until after 10:00 p m, Friday, August 6th of the fair without the permission of the superintendent in charge, and then only upon good reason being given, except, (b) Dairy animals exhibited in open class for one day only, may be removed followihg the dairy show, (c * Agricultural exhibit and exhibits (in women’s building) and exhibits in conservation building shall be removed between 10:00 a m. and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 7th of the fair. 12. Exhibitors must furnish their own feed and bedding. 13. Exhibits in open class should be in place as early as , possible on Tuesday. August 4th except agriculture to be entered on Monday, August 3rd. All exhibits in the Women's Department are to be made between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m, on Monday, August 2nd. All AH exhibits are due on Monday with the exception of horticulture which is due on Tuesday a.m. Monday, August 2nd all AH livestock to be brought in between 8:00 am and 7:00 p.m See cattle page for open class dairy. 14. Livestock exhibitors must comply with state requirements on health, as follows: INSPECTION AND PROCEDURAL GUIDE OF MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR LIVESTOCK AND HERD HEALTH STATUS FOR FAIR EXHIBITIONS FOR 1965 REGULATION 63-3 All domestic animals and poultry intended for exhibition or show within the State of Indiana shall be accompanied by an official approved health certificate issued by a licensed accredited veterinarian and bearing the seal of approval of the State sanitary official of the state origin. At the discretion of the State Veterinarian, in case of poultry and small animals to be shown at the 4-H and county fairs, the approved health certificate may be waived and an inspection made by a person assigned to inspect the fair. One copy of approved health certificate must be on file in the office of the State Veterinarian prior to the show ,or exhibition Copies of Official Health Certificates SEC. SEC. 1. An official health certificate means the pnntedforma of the various states designed to record the result of tests for diseases in livestock and statements concerning the health status of such Domestic Animals as may be listed on such forms. SEC. 2. An “Approved Official Health Certificate means an official health certificate as described bears the “Approval” of the Chief Livestock Sanitary Official of the State of Origin from which the shipment of Domestic Animals was made. TITLE I—CATTLE SEC 1. TUBERCULOSIS TEST—AII cattle shall have passed a negative tuberculin test within ninety (90) days prior to the opening date of the exhibition or shall have originated from a herd which has passed a negative (entire herd) test for Tuberculosis within twelve (12) months prior to the opening date of the exhibition. , . „ . . . SEC. 2 BRUCELLOSIS TEST—AII cattle shall have passed a negative test for Brucellosis within ninety (90) days prior to the opening date of the exhibition with the following exceptions: (a) Steers. (b) Spayed Heifers. (c) Calves under six (6) months of age, (d) Animals thirty (30) months of age which have been officially vaccinated and which are accompanied by a certificate of vaccination approved by the Chief Livestock Sanitary Official of the State of Origin. (e) Animals from Certified herds, (f) Animals originating from herds m Modified Certified Brucellosis-Free Areas that have passed a negative herd test within twelve (12) months. . , , , (g) Animals from a known infected herd will not be permitted to show. T’TTT F 2 SWINE SEC L VACCINATION AGAINST HOG CHOLERA AND IDENTIFIED—AII swine shall have been vaccinated with one of the following immunizing agents by a licensed accredited veterinarian: ... , . , ... (a) An approved vaccine administered not less than• twentyone (21) davs preceding the opening date of the exhibiUon. (b) The killed virus type vaccines such as Crystal violet and Tissue vaccine, administered not less than twenty-one (21) days nor more than six (6) months preceding the opening date of the exhibition. .■ , ~ , , SEC. 2—BRUCELLOSIS TEST—AII swine shall have passed a negative test for Brucellosis within ninety (90) days immediatelj preceding the opening date of the exhibition, except: (a) Castrated males, (b) Spayed females, . . „ . . (c) Swine from (Validated) Brucellosis-Free herds Repeal of Prior Regulation of Same Subject (d) Swine under six (6) months of age. TITLE 3—SHEEP .... _. . . . SEC I—All Sheep must be accompanied by an official passed certificate issued by a licensed accredited veterinarian within ninety- (90) davs prior to exhibition showing the entire flock to be free of Scabies and any other contagious or infectious disease. TITLE 4 GOATS SEC. 1. TUBERCULOSIS TEST—AII goats shall have passed a negative test for Tuberculosis within ninety (90) days pf exhibition or originate from a herd which has passed a negative test within the past twelve (12) months. ■ SEC 2. BRUCELLOSIS TEST—AII goats shall have passed a negative test for Brucellosis within ninety (90) days of exhibition or originate from a herd which has passed a negative test within the past twelve (12) months. REPEAL OF PRIOR REGULATION OF SAME SUBJECT Regulation 63-3 supersedes and will repeal old Regulation 57-3 previous adopted and promulgated by the Indiana State Livestock Sanitary Board. ... SPECIAL NOTICE: The Fair, as usual, will maintain an offica at the Fairgrounds until Saturday 10: p.m., August 7th. The 4-H will also maintain their office in building neer Dairy Bam from 8:00 to 4:00 daily. PARKING - . ■ 'Z The parking will be handled again this year by the Kosciusko County Shrine Club. A minimum charge of 50c will be made for parking your car at the fair. Windshield stickers for season parking will be sold in advance for $2.00. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. All livestock exhibitors should enter the east gate and must have a sticker. 2. All feed for livestock must enter east gate and must have a sticker. 3. AH official' cars may enter any gate and have a Sticker, 4. Exhibitors and concessionaires are to use east and west gates only and have sticker. West gate closed until 1:00 p m. Jj .
