Few Cases Approved By Welfare Board Only five of 11 new cases were approved by county- welfare board members at their meeting on Tuesday. » » One new- okl age assistance case was brought before the board. It was approved. Two cases were discontinued. Awards of $7,156 were allowed for 1-13 recipients and $9. 475 89 in medical expenses was approved. A total of $690 was allowed for two OAA burials and $250 for a blind burial. Disabled One new disabled case was re- . viewed and approved. It was for a 39-year-old man. Two cases had . been denied. The 21 recipients received awards of $1,259 and medical expense of $1,628.25 for a total of $2.887 25. Mrs. John Wilson Suffers Fall In Her Home Mrs. John Wilson of Wilmot (r 1 Pierceton) is a patient in the Alfran nursing home in Warsaw as a result of a fall in her home on Sunday, July 11. She was admitted to the home Saturday evening. She suffer.ed no broken bones in the fall, but needs the assistance of fwo persons to help her walk. Former Syracuse Man Honored In Memphis, Tenn. William F. Bowld, for whom a nw' hospital has just been named in Memphis, Tenn., has had a long and distinguished career in Memphis. as a businessman and civic leader. Born in Syracuse in 1895, Mr. Bowld went to Memphis about 1920. He graduated from Purdue university in 1918 and served as a first lieutenant in World War One, with I the 38th Division. ’ | Mr. Bowld retired in 1955 as vice president and general manager of 1 the Procter and Gamble subsidiaries. a post he had held since 1947. Active in chic affairs, Mr. Bowld, is chairman of the City <rf Memphis hospitals, a 33rd degree Mason, a member. <rf Rotary and a number of enigneers and chemical societies. He and his family live on a 16: acre estate in Germantown. Tenn , where he does some gardening and fishing, as well as fishing at his Florida home. The 'William F. Bowld hospital was dedicated Sunday, July 11. It is the latest addition to the City of Memphis hospitals complex. It is connected to the James K. Dobbs Research Institute and will provide new and advanced facilities for specialized medical care for patients of the City of Memphis Hospitals 'The 20-bed. third floor of the Bowld hospital constitutes the Clinical Re-1 search Center, which is supported by t a grant of the U.
