Syracuse Board Plans To Widen Pearl Street
At the regular meeting of the Syracuse town - board of trustees Tuesday evening, July 20, plans were made to widen Peart street from Huntington street (state road 13> -to the alley between the Kosciusko Beverage Company and the Connell property. Clerk treasurer Walter Calnon reported the bid had been let on the work and contractors are waiting for one of the property owners to finish a drain before they begin so the properties will not have to be dug up twice. j Mrs. Calnon reported Carroll street still has the right-of-way over the new Frazier avenue. This may be changed in the future, since ' Frazier will be a through street and Carroll dead ends a block west of Frazier. William Hess, . fine cherf. stated he was not in favor of using the fire and emergency siren for disaster warnings as it would cause confusion in the fire department Most of the volunteer firemen, get into cars and rush to the fire department. at the' second sound of the siren There was more discussion on tiie subject and Mr Hess Was advised to Order a new siren for the fire department yttonKi-S Holmes ;>!<re-’re:" . •.. tion of Syracuse asfoediftbe parking meeters in the. tn tow i cot 'l be -capped.'for-'the three days, Western Round I p Davs in Svroctise, This was granted and the meters will be canoed on Thursday Fridav and Sat'irdre .■»•’ th- - rope off an area on Man street for dancing on Saturday night This •ten was granted xj - entatiie <•> h- ’ j av . cees asked the hoard if thev mild hold a watermelon fee*! on, Fridav,
