Water Ski Tips
Water skiing depends on teamwork between the dm er and. the skier. Former national champion Tom' Dorwin, now. an advisor., to Evin: rs, offers these tips: ■ hu d Signal—Before starting out the skier and driver should compare notes make sire they both understand the six basic water ski hand signals. .. Stay Alert—The driver's No. 1 job ert at all times. Many times the skier is busy executing turns or tricks and does not see obstructions or congested areas .looming up in front of him. Starting position—The take-off is er ski run. The driver should position tlie boat so that he will tn- able to follow a straight course. This v.'l allow trie skier to gain hri balanc before having to execute a 'iro. “Hit It”—When the skier yells "hit it.” tiie driver should h&ve the line taut and ready for take-off. Use enough throttle to make sure the skier is pu!lvxi quickly to the surface Turns—Avoid abrupt maneuvers When turning, swing wkle especially if the skier is on the inside of the turn. Never execute any maneuver
