CARRY-IN SUPPER HONORS SENIORS Seventy-five members of the EUB church attended a carry-in supper and program Sunday evening in the social rooms of the church, honoring the young people of die 1965 graduating class of Ligonier high school, who attend the church. Robert Davenport acted as master of ceremonies, introducing Mrs. Glen Longenbaugh, who led in group-singing. Mrs. Forest Slabaugh read her prophecies for the future of 'the members of the class. CANCER DRIVE BEGINS MONDAY The Cancer Fund drive began Friday, May 21. with Mrs. Milo Weirk-h as chairman. Assisting her was Mrs. Faye Doll, in charge of

the business district, and a large group of Boy Scouts who aided in the soliciting of the residential district Mayor John Golden granted permission for the use of the city fire trucks for transportation of the Scouts on the opening day of the drive. • AIRSUN HUNTER VISITS PARENTS Airman Third Class Philip Hunter arrived in Ligonier from McGuire AF B New Jersey, and will spend a 25 day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Hunter.

Ligonier News By ROSE CUNNINGHAM Perry Center Graduates 21 Graduation exercises for 21 eighth grade students were held on Friday. May 21, in the Perry Center school gymnasium. The commencement address was given by Rev. A. L. Holzbauer and Rev. Dewey Her.ry gave the invocation and benediction. The junior band and girls’ chorus rendered several selections and a vocal duet was sung by Becky Blake and Brenda Gangwer. DVB To Begin On May 31 ! The Daily Vacation Bible School sponsored by the Ligonier Ministerial .Association, wjll begin on May 31 and the closing day will be June 11th. Children will register at 9 a.m. ' on May 31, at the elementary building, with classes for kindergarten through the eighth grade. Classes will begin at 9 each morning, Monday through Friday, and will be dismissed at 11 am. School busses will provide transportation with a schedule of bus stops to be announced later. It was announced that the next 'j meeting would be a joint meeting ( with the Perry Busy Bees Girls’ ( club on June 7 at Sun-E-Side Recrea- , tion Center. i Reception Held For Parents Members of the senior class of Ligonier high school entertained their parents at a reception in the Elks social rooms after the baccalaureate services Sunday afternoon. The buffet table was beautifully decorated with a centerpiece of red and white carnations, their class flower. A large placard of white with red chenille letters, read, “Thanks Folks”. Refreshments of white cakes decorated With red flowers, and punch were served by the class of 67 seniors. to their parents. This was the first time a class in Ligonier high school had shown their appreciation in this manner, and it seems that the parents felt that, their efforts had been well rewarded. Ligonier State Police Post Commander Receives Award At a recent inspection of Indiana State Police held at the Ligonier •Post. Lt. Richard Peters, commander of the post, received his badge for 500.000 miles of accidentfree driving from a former commander of the post, Capt. George Everett. Everett is also past superintendent of Indiana state police. He is now serving as a captain with headquarters in Indianapolis. ON TED MACK SHOW Richard Smith, former resident of Ligonier, was a vocal contestant on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour on Sunday. May 23. and will, appear on Sunday. May 30. These shows were recently taped in New York city.

Business And Professional Women’s Club Meets Twenty-seven members and guests attended the May meeting of the Business and Professional Women’s club at the Eagles hall last Thursday evening. Dinner was served to the’ group by the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the " F. O. E. Mrs. Richard Summerville installed the officers for the coming year during a beautiful candelight ceremony. Each year at commencement time, the club presents a ring to a Junior girl of Ligonier high school. The recipient is chosen by the faculty for her' courtesy, fairmindedness, unselfishness, sincereity. ar.d courage. Also for her ability to sensibly adapt herself to whatever life she may live, through choice or otherwise.
