Attendance Report For Lakeland Grades The six weeks’ attendance report for March 15 to April 23, has been released by Lakeland elementary coordinator Edgar Speer. The average daily attendance in the, Leesburg elementary school was 259.52 for 95.61 per cent. In Milford the average daily attendance was 372.30 for 93.77 per cent, in Syracuse it was 538.44 for 93.95 per cent and in North Webster it was 303.70 for 94. 07 per cent. In per cent of attendance by rooms the room at Leesburg with the highest‘per cent was Martha Fawley’s third and fourth grade with' 98:39 per cent. At Milford David Wingard’s sixth grade class was highest with a percentage of 98.15. Ralph Bushong’s class was high for North Webster with a 97.19 per cent. It is also a sixth grade class. At Syracuse the class with the highest per cent of attendance was Betty Moltz's fifth grade with 98. Sorosis Club Has Annual Spring Party The annual spring party of the Sorosis chi> of Slilford was held at Foo and Faye’s on Monday evening, May 3., A cantonese meal Was served to the members and three guests, Mrs. Amos Gawthrop, Mrs. Elaine Hall and Mrs. William Perry, all of Milford. Mrs. Harry Phend, party chairman. welcomed the group and Mrs. Richard Sumner led in the blessing. Place cards were decorated with oriental, pictures. Door prizes consisting of floral centerpieces were given to those having a ducky number on the back of the place cards. After dinner Mrs. Glenn Morehead gave out the new program books. Mrs. Glenn Brown then showed a film of the trip to Europe which the Purdue Glee club had recently taken. Back ground music was taken from tapes of the performances given while on the trip. Let Contract For County Jail Office At their meeting this- month the county commissioners signed a contract with Norm Reiff Construction for repairs and new equipment in the office of the county jail. The contract price is $801.07. The contract calls for exhaust ceiling, ceramic window sjlls and a built-in counter and file cabinet to be made of oak paneling and formica according to specifications, by sheriff Howard Holbrook. Complaint Arly Beigh of Clay township appeared before the board complaining that the John Shireman ditch was not completely cleared and gleaned on his property when the job was supposedly finished. The commissioners said they could xvithhold: pax- from the person cleaning the ditch until the job is satisfactory., Robert Rerrick of Waveland Beach on Lake Wawasee was present to sec if a road in that area was vacated once and for all when it had been petitioned in 1962. The records show it vacated as of September 10. 1962. County attorney Robert Rasor advised Mr. Re-Tick that a petition to re-open the road could be filed by those interested and it could be viewed again. Some of the Waveland beach residents do not have easy access to the public beach since this road is closed.

SYRACUSE SADDLE CLUB MEETS FOR WORK DAY The Syracuse Saddle club members fnet recently for a work day at the club house and grounds. A sack lunch and dessert were served at noon. At 4 o’clock the president, Everaido Ganz, presided at the business session when plans were disenssed for the horse show to be held June 6 with classes at 10 a. m. and 12:30 p.m. -Another work day will be held June 5. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Ottavi and daughter Linda of Palos Park, 111., attended the meeting. TO COLORADO Larry Slabaugh, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Slabaugh of near Milford, will leave Friday morning for Golden. Colo., where he plans to make his home.
