PUBLIC SPEAKING WINS 4-H HONORS ’OB" r b v~- ■*- Miss Street Butler Two students at Purdue University have been selected by ; the Cooperative Extension Service as state winners in their 4-H public speaking program. Miss Jamie Street, 17, of Bloomfield, received a chest of silver and Richard Butler, 19, of Elwood, was given a wrist watch by the Pure Oil Company, ‘sponsor of the program. * Miss Street, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Street, has been a 4-H Club member for the last 10 years. Along with public speaking, she has carried other projects such as home furnishing. electric and garden. She has won grand champion awards in all of these projects. < As part of her public speaking project. Miss Street has delivered 238 talks. She was named Indiana Electric Demonstration winner at the 1963 Indiana State Fair and made this demonstration on film for use in 4-H Clubs throughout the state... Butler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Butler, has made a total of 216 talks on 4 II subjects and has made 12 radio appearances. He was named State Fair public speaking winner *n 1963. A member if the state 4-H Junior Leader Council, Butler has excelled in other 4-H projects. He is a member of the Collegiate 4-H Club at Purdue and takes an active part in student government at the university.
