He has been appointed to House Standing Committees on Agriculture Insurance, Labor, Military Affairs, and Natural Resources by the Democrats, who control both houses this session, 78-22 to the House, 35-15 in the Senate RECORD AMOUNT GAS CONSVMED Arctic air which pushed the temperatures in some areas of the Northern Indiana Public Service Company territory to below zero caused the utility's customers to use a record amount of natural gas. Gas distribution rose to approximately 655,000,000 cubic feet from tbe period of noon Thursday, Jan. 26, to noon Friday, Jan. 27, 1965, as residents nudged thermostats to keep warm. Jerome M. Pickford. NIPSCo manager of gas operations, said the peak was met with regular flow gas from southwestern pipeline suppliers augmented by reserves from underground storage and propane.

Commissioners Accept Bids For Material Monday And Tuesday

By BETTY SMITH ” In their meetings on Monday and Tuesday of this week at the court house in Warsaw the county commissioners, Fredrick Gilliam, Lawrence Butts and Ray Ferverda, accepted bids on crushed, limestone and liquid bituminous material for use of the county highway department? in the year 1965. It was decided to wait until February 15 about bids which were received to furnish and applv brush killer.’ A bid for 10.000 tons or less of class A crushed limestone was accepted on a trial basis. This bid was placed earlier by the Erie Stone Co. of Huntington and acceptance delayed until this week. • Seven bids were placed to furnish 7,000 tons or less of liquid bituminous materials, grades SC, and MC-No. 70: No. 250; No. 800; and No 3000. Also price per gallon with additives added on these grades. All bids were the same on the two grades $28.78, plus $3:60 for the additive' and $1.20 vendor storage if
