taiziNJO? around J • The U. S. Geological Survey reports, as of Nov. 15. the water level of Lake Wawasee and Syracuse Lake was 857.84 feet above sea level. Over a 20-year period ending in 1963, the lowest level was 857.08 feet above sea level in 1953 and the highest was 858.88 feet in 1951. The average reading for the 20year period computed is 858.07 feet above sea level. Therefore, as of Nov. 15, 1984, the reading to J 23 feet or 2.76 inches below the 20-year average. Mr. and Mrs. Deloss Weaver, Syracuse, went to Elgin AFB in Florida, to spend the holidays with their son, Lt. Dawid Weaver and Mrs. Weaver but were called home Saturday, Dec. 26, by the critical illness of Mrs. Weaver’s mother, Mrs. Ada Smith of Converse. Mrs. Smith who is 91. is a patient in the Caylor Nickel dime hospital in Bluffton. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pollock and two sons, Syracuse, were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. end Mrs. Larry Mock and family at Dewart Lake. Guests of the Pollocks Christmas eve were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pollock of Syracuse and his grandfather, Ernest Weeks of Albion. Mrs. Pollock s pa ents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wilkinson ar' son Cart were their Christmas dinner guests. We’re told there may be as many as eight take the examination for postmaster at Milford, mostly veterans, and one a purple heart veteran. Their son, Major James Myers, who has been on a six month seminar in Africa has returned to his family in Arlington, Va., and will be reassigned by the U.S. Army. Mr. and Mrs. John L. Miller and daughters of Dewart Lake entertained at Christmas dinner for Mr. and Mrs. Ralph L. Ladies Os The Round Table Hold Dinner Party The Ladies of the Round Table at Syracuse held their Christmas dinner party at Howard’s restaurant on Monday evening, Dec. 21. There were 23 members present Tables were in Christmas appointment and Miss Ethel Bowser read Louis Bromfield’s Christmas Prayer for the table grace. Later the group went to the home of Mrs. Philip Fawley for a program and gift exchange. Mrs. Carl H. Satre sang “0 Come, O Come Emmanuel" and “He Shall Feed His Flock" accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Hilary Bachman. 'Each member participated in the program by_ reading passages of scripture which foretold the coming of Christ, with comments by Mrs. Bachman, Punch and cookies were served with Mrs. Noble Myers presiding at the bowl. Mrs. Alice Miller was chairman of the hostess committee and with Mrs. Bachman, Mrs. Myers, Mrs. Louise Connolly, Mrs. Fawley, Mrs. Eloise Method, Mrs. Everett Miner assisting. The next regular meeting of the club will be held January 4 in the home of Mrs. Carl Penn.
THE CHARLES McKIBBENS HOST CHRISTMAS DINNER Mr. and Mrs. Charles McKibben and son Rickey of Syracuse entertained at dinner Christinas day in their home. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. John E. Reed of Goshen, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Adams and son of Nappanee, Mrs. Clarence McKibben and son, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Laughlin and family and Mr. and Mrs. Dallas McKibben, all of Syracuse. Games and a gift exchange were enjoyed in the afternoon.

ENGAGED — Mr. and Mrs. Irving Doerscher of 519 Mullen Drive, Syracuse, announce the engagement of their daughter, Bessie Wolfe, to John Stetler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emory Stetler of 630 S. Main street, Syracuse. Miss Wolfe is a senior at Syracuse high school. Mr. Stetler is a 1964 graduate of Syracuse high school and is employed at Midland Industries, Syracuse. No date has been set for the wedding.
SYRACUSE Hospital Notes Clark Green, r 3 Syracuse, entered the Goshen hospital Thursday, Dec. 24. He was released Saturday. Mrs. Jerry Rogers, r 3 Syracuse, was released from the Goshen hospital, Thursday, Dec. 24, Diane, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Fisher, Syracuse, was treated at the Goshen hospital Thursday, Dec. 24, for an accident at home and released. Mrs. Vera O’Haver, Syracuse, was released from the Goshen hospital Thursday, Dec. 24. Tom White, Syracuse, was admitted to the Goshen hospital at 5:30 Tuesday, Dec. 22, after complaining of a back injury while at work at the Goshen Rubber Company. He was released Saturday. Mrs. Mary Pusti, Syracuse, was treated at the Goshen hospital Saturday for an accident at home and released. Mrs. Owen Avery and daughter, Esther Marie, was admitted to the, Goshen hospital. Saturday. Gerald A. Eastlund, Syracuse, was treated at the Goshen hospital Monday following an accident at home and released.
