JOHN SCHERMERHORN IS STILL WINNER John Schermerhorn, only Republican winner in Noble Co., in last fall's election, is still die winner after a recount finished late Thursday afternoon. Alfred J. Rogers. Lake, failed by 28 votes in his bid to reverse the outcome. Rogers was a 62-vote loser in the original contest for commissioner from the third district Rogers asked for the recount after an error was noted in the tally of votes in precinct 25 and one half of Kendallv.Ue. and in that precinct alone he lost the precinct by 39 votes instead of the 86 shown by tally sheets turned in by workers on election day. Lehman. 701 Water St., age 83. died at 8:55 a.m. in the Kondas nursing home, Albion, where she had been a patient for the last four months. She was born in LaGrange county, May 13, 1881. and seven great-grandchildren. A sister, Mm Harry Miller, of Ligonier also survives. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 1:30 in the UlreySedgwick funeral home with Rev. Robert Carmin of the Methodist church in charge. Burial was in Eden cemetery, near Topeka. _L — SCHOOLS DISMISSED West Noble schools were dismissed at 1:30 pan. Wednesday, for the Christmas vacation and students will report again on Monday, January 4. PRE-CHRISTMAS DINNER Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lee were hosts to a Staton family dinner Smday at Sun-E-Side Recreation Center. Around 35 members of the family were present. COMMUNITY NEWS Miss Beverly Cunningham of Nashville, Tenn., is spending the holiday with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Couts. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cormican of _ Fort Wayne, were guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. ML L. DePew. Miss Jayne Roe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Roe. submitted to a tonsilectomy last week in Fort Wayne. Mrs. Carence Myers has returned from a visit with her son, John Eytcheson and family, in San Antonie, Tex., and a week with Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Godeon and family in New Port Richey, Fla. The Ligonier Lance staff sponsored a semi-formal dance in the high school gymnasium last Saturday evening. The room was beautifully decorated in keeping with the I holiday spirit.

EBENEZER LADIES* AID HAS YULE DINNER Mrs. Hattie Brown, assisted by Mrs. Roy L. Miller, were hostesses to the Ebenezer Ladies' Aid at the Hex Grange Hall near Syracuse for the Christinas dinner on Thursday, Dec. 17. The tables were decorated in the Christmas theme and Mrs. Maude Flickinger asked the table grace and everyone enjoyed the delicious dinner. Mrs. Theries Doll, president, opened the meeting and Mrs. Edna Thomas and Mrs. Roy Wilkinson had charge of devotions. There were twenty-seven menbers present and the guests were Mrs. Pad Hathaway, Mrs. Elmer Chiddister. Mrs. Inez Hursey, Mrs. Melbum Rapp and Mrs. Virgil Bobeck. Several members read poems, articles and stories at roh call and carols were sung. Mrs. Merritt Lung presented everyone with a gift with a number attached which corresponded to a number on the exchange gifts. Mrs. Howard Bitner will be hostess for the January meeting.

Milford First Brethren Church To Have Candlelight Service The Brethren Youth Crusaders of the First Brethren church of Milford with the help of the combined junior and senior choirs will present a cantata entitled “The Christmas Story in Candlelight Carols”, during a candlelight service at the church on Christinas eve at 11 p.m. The story will unfold in three scenes, foretelling, the nativity and adoration. These will be depicted in pantomime scenes while the choir and congregation sing w appropriate carols. There will be a candlelighting service for all, followed by everyone joining in singing the beloved old carol “Silent Night”.

FUTURE BUILDERS GO CAROLING; ELECT OFFICERS The Future Builders class of the Milford Christian church met at » the home of Mr. and' Mrs. John Augsburger south of Milford on Thursday evening and went caroling. Following the caroling they returned to the house where fruit plates were made and a business session was held. During the election of officers for 1965 the following were chosen to lead the class: President, Frank Grove; vice president, John Strouse; secretary, Mrs. Robert Foster; teacher, Forrest Ramser; and assistant teacher, Wallace Scott. At the close of the evening refreshments were served to the 13 members present.
