Take Precautions During Holidays An emphatic plea for extreme caution on the part of both drivers and pedestrians during the Christmas holiday period has been voiced by Gerald W. Cavanagh, president of the Chicago Motor club. “Most of us fail to realize that the Christmas holiday period is the most dangerous time of the year for aiyone who is walking or driving,” be said.' ‘“The holiday season is wonderful. but the best way to preserve the Christmas spirit is to take the responsibility for courteous and careful driving and walking.” Cavanagh pointed out that most traffic accidents occur when the usually careful driver takes his mind off his driving—when he takes that one unnecessary chance. He urged pedestrians ta&oey traffic signals and cross only at intersections. He asked motorists to be alert for slippery spots: to signal we!i in advance of stopping or turn-

Wawakeechie HD Club Has Christmas And Anniversary Party The Wawakeechie Home Demonstration club of near Syracuse met at the clubhouse on Wednesday. Dec. 16, at 12:30 pan. There were 17 members and four guests. Mrs. Bessie Lewis, Mrs. Theries Doll. Mrs. Gene Allen and four-year-oki Betsy Storms. The meeting was a combination of the dub’s Christmas party and the honoring of a golden anniversary, the honor guest being Mrs. James Bundy. The group was served ice cream and golden wedding cake and punch by the hostesses.

Meditations were given by Mrs. Leia Myers and she read two poems by Edgar Guest, the titles were “At Christmas" and “The Cookie Jar”. Homemakers dub who had been guests at the November meeting. The treasurer’s report was given by Mrs. Vernon Martin. A report was given by Mrs. Doll on Mrs. Bernita Ruple, a member of the dub who is ill at the Parkview hospital in Fort Wayne, and during the business discussion it was decided the dub would have a luncheon for the January meeting, the place and time to be arranged by Mrs. Hattersley. The president, Mrs. Schoeff, very graciously thanked all of the members individually for their services during the past year. The group then sang Christmas carols and this was followed by the gift exchange. The next meeting will be held January 27.
TERRY R. BROCK BEGINS BASIC GREAT LAKES, ILL. Dec. 4Seaman Recruit Terry R. Brock, 17, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. James J. Brock of 413 John St.. Syracuse, recently began basic training at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes IU. The nine week training includes naval orientation, history and orand gunnery, military drill, first aid and survival.
