Opposition Met On Stone's Hill Site For West Noble School I. ■ ' ■ ■ Opposition to Stone's Hill site for tire proposed West Noble high school continued on Wednesday, Oct. 7, when a group of Wawak'a, Ligonier, and Perry township taxpayers presented a surprise remonstrance at a state tax commission hearing in Albion. • The hearing was on tire West Noble school board s request to transfer S6O, 300 from the cumulative building fluid to its 1-1 account in order to purchase 130 acres of land on U. ,S: 33 halfway between Cromwell and' Ligonier. The school board after its hearing approved the transfer by a majority vote. The taxpayers, represented by Howard Heckner, Ligoniei' attorney, maintain that a new high school is vitally needed but argue that the Stone’s Hill site favored by the majority in the school board, represents a needless extra expense compared . to the costs of building and operating a school close enough to Ligonier to tie into the city’s municipal sewer ♦ and water.

D. H. Lessig. Jr., representing the D. H. Lessig Engineers, Inc., of Warsaw, spoke in behalf of the taxpayers. .Alex Campbell. Fort Wayne, / attorney for the school board; represented the board.
