AROUND J-Ay' 1A 1 • / I l In our efforts to give the forthcom- ( ing Bridge-A-Rama a boost, we said j the games would be played in the j youth center. This is, not so, we’re , told, but that they will be played in ‘ private homes. Games will be played ; ‘ from October 15 to April 15. Again, for further information call 457-3465, 457-2082, 457-2077. or 457-3460. And are we getting responses! Now we have a polite note that the Syracuse Saddle Club WILL NOT be renamed the Milford-Syracuse Saddle Club. It says, “There will { definitely not be a change in the | name of the Syracuse Saddle Club, ■ Inc. We are proud to have members in our club from Milford, Bristol. Millersburg. Benton, Ligonier, Chicago, and Syracuse”. So there. We got a real thrill out of hearing Joe Heinsen of the Chicago White Sox talk to Syracuse Little Leaguers ; Monday night. And, incidentally, so [ did the boys. He told us the Sox have i the best pitching staff in the big | leagues—2.7s earned runs per game. When asked how he keeps in shape in off season, he said he swings both arms around each way 200 times—right in his bedroom. And we believe there must be some magic in this, for Joe, at 48. appeared as athletic as if he were 21. We hear there is to be a scramble for the postmastership at Milford. ; due to fall vacant about the first of I the year. A numbei- of people, all Democrats, are after this post. EVERYBODY KNOWS that the Navy is a poor place to seek idenI tity. The closest I ever came to it was by establishing myself as the seaman second, who was always the first man in line to go ashore and the last to come back. There were six of us strung out throughout the Navy and collectively we did manage to acquire a certain amount of notoriety. My final disillusionment came when I reported on a new ship and the Quartermaster turned to the Officer of the Deck and said, “It’s one of the I Dorothy boys”. I Pee-Wee and Butch Niles were i pleased with their grand opening:last week end. They are owners of the new Clean Car Wash in the Village. New subscribers to The M-J are college bound girls Judy Stucky and Bobbi Stiver, both at Ball State. Judy is at Rm. 225, P. O. Box 86. Klippie Hall, and Bobbi is at Box 24, Wood Hall. Glad to have you aboard, girls, and good luck. The new Billiard club on east Winona Ave.. Warsaw, is something you’ll want to see. It's run by Jack and Pat Mason. Jack is former Lake Wawasee youth and they’ve put together something really unique this time. Tho old pool room has given way to sometliing real nice. Pete Luttman said business is “bad” while NIPSCO workmen are tearing up street in front of his , Gamble store to bring natural gas to the bank. I Dick Puschman, a Goshenite living I at Lake Wawasee, was real thrilled •I Labor Day morning when he had his picture taken with Senator Vance Hartkc at the Ligonier pancake and sausage supper. Word was out when Senator Hartke visited Warsaw Wednesday that he might drop in on the Milford I firemen’s chicken barbecue. Suni day. Oct. 4. in his helicopter for a : surprise visit. The surprise resignation of Doc Miller from the Syracuse police department will , bring about some changes. Man to replace, him will most surely be a part time man.
