Mrs. Robert Franks 7 Mrs. Robert (Naomi) Franks, 71, of r 2 Middlebury, sister of Plomer Michael of Milford, died at 8;50 p.m. Sunday at her home, five' miles north of Middlebury. Mrs. Franks was bom in Goshen on May 3, 1893. She married Robert Franks Nov. 24, 1917, and he passed away March 6,1962. She had lived at her present home 33 years, moving there from Goshen. Surviving in addition to Milford brother, are one son, Chester, and a daughter. Mrs. Arden Westfall, both of Middlebury; seven grandone sister, Mrs. Dewey Kober of children; six great-grandchildren; Goshen; and another brother, Ernest Michael, of Wolf Lake. Funeral sen ices were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Che Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren. Rev Allen Weldy officiated and burial was in the Violet! cemetery at Goshen. Sophie M. Lange Mrs. Sophie M. Lange, 90, died in the Om nursing home of Milford at 12 30 p.m. on Sunday. June 7. She had been a resident of the home for the past seven years. Tiie deceased was bom in Milwaukee, Wis., on February 6, 1874. She was the daughter of Adam and Anna (Brehm) Wagoner. Mrs. Lange had been a resident of Syracuse since 1957. She was a member of the Milford church of the Nazarene and had been a deaconess in the Milwaukee Nazarene church for the past 25 years. Survivors include a son, Charles of Chicago; six grandchildren; seven graet-grandchildren;, two brothers, Ernest of Wisconsin and Harry’ of Florida; and two sisters, Mrs. Louise Jorden and Mrs.. Rose Barrett both of Milford. Two sons, one brother, and one sister preceded her in death. Funeral services were held on Wednesday in the Harris funeral home in Syracuse with Rev. James Mapes officiating. Burial was in the Wooden cemetery at Harrison Center. Arthur A. Dowty Arthur A. Dowty, 82 , of r 2 White Pigeon, Mich., father of Virgil Dowty of Milford, died at 3 p. m. Saturday in the Sturgis Memorial hospital, where he had been a patient one. day. Mr. Dowty was bom May 12. 1882, in Effingham. 111., and he :ft.i Tied Mvrtle Sidiivan on May 18, 1904. She died Oct. 25, 1981. He had lived in the Mottville community since 1923, moving there from Illinois. Surviving in addition to the Milford son, are four daughters, Mrs. Delbert Lechel of Goshen, Mrs. LaMar Kieffer of Bristol. Mrs. Reuben Omold of Constantine. Mich., and Mrs. Edward Wertz of White Pigeon, Mich.; three other sons, Chester of Detroit, Glenn of Sturgis, and Ivan of Schoolcraft, Mich.; S 3 grandchildren: 44 great-grand-children; four step-grandchildren; Final rites Were conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Mottville Bible church. Rev. Russell Schelling officiated and burial was in Vistula cemetery. Viola Evans Mrs. Viola Evans, 67, wife of 1 Rev. Eldon Evans, pastor of the Walnut Church of the Brethren located southeast of Argos, died at 8:25 am. Friday. June 5, at her i home on r 1 Argos. Mrs. Evans, who had been in ! failing health for several years, was bom in Urbana. 111., on August 19, 1896, the daughter of Frank ard Lucy (StrohD Richards. Survivors in addition to the husband include one daughter, Mrs. James (Esther Marie’ Rothrock, of Bunker Hill AFB, Pent; two brothers, Ernest Richards of Syracuse and Charles Richards of Wawaka. Funeral services were held at 2 pm. Sunday, June 7, in the Walnut Church of the Brethren. Rev. Homer Kircole officiated. Burial was in the City cemetery, m ■ . .. Mrs. Frank Hartman Mrs. Frank (Mary Weldy' Hartman. 85. of Cincinnati, Ohio, sister of Timothy Weldy of Milford, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Pietzuah of Cincinnati. Mrs. Hartman was bom Sept. 21. 1878, in Wakarusa and she married Rev. Frank Hartman on Feb. 34, 1903. He preceded her in death. Surviving m addition to the Milford brother and Cincinnati daughter are three other daughters. Mrs. Esther Leahy of Lake Beulah, Wis.. Mrs. Laketa Broin of the state of Kentucky, and Mrs. Ruth Bieber of Cincinnati; one son. Talmage, of the state of Tennessee; one sis-ter-in-law. Mrs. Timothy Weldy of Goshen. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p. m. in the First Presbyterian church. Burial w*as in the Yellow Creek cemetery. Thomas W. Dye Funeral services were held in the home in Warsaw at 2 p.m. Tuesday for Thomas Walter Dye. 88, of r 3 North Manchester, formerly of Leesburg. Mr. Dye died Saturday in the Wuhash County hospital at Mr. Dye was bora Oct 29, 1875. in Kosciusko county. He was married to Edith Fferverda, who preceded him in dMh'' A member i of the New Salem Church of the Brethrra, southeast of Milford, Mr. Dve had resided in Leesburg until
Chester. He was a past master of the Masons at Leesburg. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Ruth E. Kelly of North Manchester; one son, Dewey Dye of South Bend: four brothers; two sisters; two grandsons; and nine great-grandchildren. Rev. Howard J. Kreider officiated at the services and burial was in the Leesburg cemetery. Charles T. Mock Death claimed Charles Turpin I Mock, 96, who was one of the two > survivors of the Mock Christian ■ church at Happy Corners. He had ' taught the Old Bible class there. : The other survivor is his sister, Mrs. ’ Mary Gross of Pierceton. Mr. Mock died at 11:30 p. m. Sat- • urday in the Kilgore nursing home ; near Pierceton. He had been there since May. Complications were listed i as the cause of death. He had been . in failing health for some time. The deceased was born SE of North Webster June 9, 1857, to George W. and Elizabeth (Rentfrow) Mock. He resided there until six years ago when he went to Pierceton 1 to live with his daughter, Mrs. Les- ’ ter Gray. He married Sarah Elizabeth Miller on Nov. 17. 1889. She preceded him in death on Oct. 8. 1952. Nir. Mock • was a retired farmer, carpenter, at one time ran a thrashing rig, and drove a school bus for many years. Surviving besides the daughter and sister are four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law, Sam Miller of California and Charles Miller of Flori- ' da; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Bell Mock of North Webster and Mrs. Julia Richcreek of Texas. i Services w’ere held Tuesday at 2 . p. m. in the Harris-Troxel funeral honw* at North Webster. Rev. Dale • Ginther officiated. Burial was in the Mock cemetery. Mrs. Henry O. Shriner Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Dutchtown Brethren church for Mrs. Henry 0. Shriner, 72. of r 1 Warsaw (Dutchtown >, who died Tuesday evening in the Whitley County hospital at Columbia City, Rev. Louis Engle, assisted by Rev. George Pontius of Elkhart. ! will officiate. Burial will be in the I Oakwood cemetery. Mrs. Shriner was bom in Bluff--1 ton on Aug. 19, 1891 the daughter of Charles and Sarah (Goff) Smith. Mrs. Shriner was previously married to W. H. Manuels and had ! lived in South Bend for 25 years before coming to the Dutchtown community in 1939. Survivors are her husband. Hen- ' ry O. Shriner to whom she married in 1939; a daughter, Mrs. Clarence Thelma) Abbott of r 1 Warsaw; two grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren. Friends may call at the McHatton funeral home in Warsaw from 2 p. m. today (Thursday) until noon Friday, then at the church until the hour of the service. MILFORD - LEESBURG Hospital Notes I . ■ MILFORD CHIEF OF POLICE RECOVERING Clifford Pierson, Milford chief of • police, is recovering from injuries . suffered a few weeks ago. He was taken to the hospital last Thursday evening after his wound started , to bleed and was released Tuesday. He is now recovering at his home. Larry Spkher, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Speicher of Milford, underwent a tonsillectomy. Satur- , day at the Goshen hospital. He w’as later released.
