Along Main Street JERKS JOURNEYS Since I wrote this column the last time, about everyone in town - has told me where Monoquet is. At least I know that the column is being read and now I too know where Monoquet is and a little bit about it. < Are you “Dreaming of a White Christmas”? It looks like we just might have, a little snow for next Wednesday. I hope so. It seems so much more like Christmas when the ground is white. Did you know that the new sales tax produced nearly $2 million in revenue for the last eight days of October, which were the first eight days’ collection under th£ Indiana sales, tax law. The spirit of Christmas is rapidly coming to Milford. The trees are either up or being put up all over the area. Aren’t the town’s lights and Christmas tree beautiful this year? Do you know that Santa is gong to be in ‘ Our Town” next Saturday

and then again on Tuesday?
Speaking of Christmas decorations I think if I were to choose the best decorations in Milford I would choose those of Mr. and Mrs. Eldridge Bailey who live on Emeline street. They have lights, a beautiful tree in the window and on the window one may see Santa and his team flying across a star-filled sky. From Sharon’s notes we find that the first deed recorded in this county was by George and Elizabeth Miller to George Mock and bears the date of March 29, 1836. Have you been down to the Standard station to see the living nativity scene yet? I think we should all take time out to remember the real reason that we celebrate Christmas. So often in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season we forget that it is the birthday of the Christ child that we are celebrating. In closing may I say, "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of us - Arch, Della, Betty, Sharon, Edith, Lloyd, Dean, Ron M., Steve, Georgia, Nancy, the correspondents, and yours truly”.
