Milford School News By EARLEEN FISHER TRIBUTE TO JOHN F. KENNEDY His body has left us } But his spirit shall remain - And may it never be said that he died in vain. “Ask not what yoUr country can do For you, but what you can do * *■ £> , For Your country”. , Let us march forward - • With these words in our heart; He has given his life - Let us now do our part. — . By Anni Lange Since the Purdue survey team completed its study of the Lakeland Community School Corpora- ( tion, newspaper articles and com-1 ments have manifested themselves. I A publication has been issued by Purdue university concerning the ! survey team’s findings. This pub- | lication reviews the conditions of the schools in the Lakeland area and particularly condemns Milford high school. The survey team recommended full utilization of all school buildings in the area, except Milford high school. In either of the two alternative plans for consolidation, our town’s high school would be abandoned. Let us assume that- the school has been abandoned: what now? Occupying a block of the town of Milford is the derelict high school. An empty school building-haunted by the ghosts of half jx century - does not head the list of. real estate brokers. Who would have any use for an old school building in a dying town that will never completely die? Perhaps a deposed king would purchase it as a substitute for his lost castle; perhaps an enterprising landlord would convert it into an apartment house - complete with drinking fountains, community restI rooms, and public address system; perhaps a millionaire former graduate would restore it for the sake of old memories. Remember in grade ,school how we used to sing: “Glory, glory’, halleluah. the school is burning down’” Prophetic?
