Blazers Lose Six 1962-63 Varsity BB Players According to a release received this week from .Leesburg coach Jack S. Ford, six varsity basketball players of the 1962-1963 season are not listed on the Leesburg j roster this year. Four were lost by graduation. They are Glenn Skinner, Jerry’ Brown, Kerry Boggs and Danny Alberts. John Beebe has moved to Warsaw and Everett Dausman, last year’s leading scorer, is too old: Seven lettermen are, back which does provide an experienced nucleus for new coach Ford to start from. Speed and size could be in their favor. Larry Bishop, a 6’ 474” sophomore, heads a list of sevdn boys who top the six-foot mark. As for individual scoring, a balanced attack is expected. All of these boys thus have shown scoring potential. No definite starting line-up has been picked as all are fighting hard for positions. If enthusiasm completely determined the won-lost record, coach Ford stated the losses would be nil. Spirits are high and all are anticipating the start of the season. The talk is of the new Leesburg Blue Blazers, more spirit, more fight, 1 more ivins. The roster, follows: ,: Bob Bishop, senior, 5’ 10”. *Dean Boggs, senior, 5’ 8”. Bernard Kissr, senior, 6’ 274”. *Ed Lyons, senior, 5’ 9”. Garner, Junior, 5’ 10”. Pardee Gunter, junior, 6’ 1”. *Gary Landis, junior, 5’ 9”. Mike Rodgers, junior, 5’ 5”. Doug Smith, junior, 5’ 674”. * Larry Bishop, sophomore, 6' 4y 2 ”. *Norm Dukes, sophpmore, 6’ 1”. Dennis Carman, sophomore, 5' 11”. ■ 4 ' Jack Stookey,. sophomore, 5’ 9”. * Returning lettermen. Charles L. Garner is principal of the school. Mr.. Ford is head coach and Carel Prater and Jack Myers are assistant coaches. Cheerleaders are Debbie Copeland, Mary Jane Foreman and Sharon Barton. DarreTTl Brookins is 'Student manager. \ Members of the “B” team are Bob Dye, Steve Engle, Dennis Garman, Mike Huffman, Mark Marshall, Gary Minnick, Perry Morton, Roily Robison, Ronnie Sausaman, Dennis Shively, Jon Shively, Merrill ' Skinner, Doug Smith, and Jack Stookey. Members of the freshmen team are Ed Folz, Bud Green, Dave Marquart, Skip McMillan, Steve Osborn, Dan Reese, Steve Rodgers, Jack Rohr, Ronnie Sausaman, John Shively, Mdrrill Skinner, Butch Stookey, and Rick Stookey. First Game Friday Leesburg’s first game of the sea-
son will be against the Sidney Wildcats on the Pierceton floor.; The team's first home game will be on November 8 and will be against White’s. j Webster Trojans j Lack Height .... ■ i | Coach Donnie Butts will have no j | one topping the six foot mark, but almost all of the players to the ’ five foot-ten mark. There is no doubt the Trojans will be hurt by the loss of Rick Baker and Jack Rhoades. Returning veterans are: Mark Jones, Chad Beezley, and Tom Reiff. Another veteran who played a lot last year is Craig Baker, a second year varsity man. Dick Roose and Dan Sullivan are both second year varsity men who played reserve ball a year ago. Other candidates are Gary Bfesemeyer, Kim Trestrail, Jim Hunt, Mike Vanator, Dennis Wagoner and Kenny Enyeart. North Webster Schedule Nov. I—Mentone .......... Aw r ay Nov. il Solid Understanding OF SYRACUSE Town Government IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY FOR SUCCESSFUL OPERATION OF The Syracuse Water Co. The Sanitation Unit The two big jobs of Syracuse Town Government are the operation of the above utilities. No tax money goes into their operation — they must be run just as you run a private business. You buy supplies, you operate economically. You must give the public service —— and make a profit so that the bond holders can be paid off. THE SYRACUSE TOWN CLERK-TREAS-URER is the only Public Official bonded financially who has the direct duty of seeing that the town gets its “money s worth. ” The Town Board sets policies, town employees do the work — but the Town Clerk-Treasurer, by law, is the only official charged with financial responsibility. • J : The Town of Syracuse has over $1 ,|^o, 000.00 in Personal Property to manage — trucks, cars, heating plants, garages, the Town H electric motors by the dozen, the big new Disposal Plant, four sanitary lift stations, and a Jhalf million dollar water company. We say that J. Barton Cox has had the experience — and his record proves that he can do a good job. — He furnishes free and most convenient uptown office space — he is the first Syracuse Town Clerk to be available every day at an up-town office — in person. He has made up two budgets that the Town Board has passed. A small tax reduction made in 1963 — and a great big 22 cent reduction for 1964. Town services have Not Been Curtailed. Syracuse — and the Wawasee Community needs a good Town Clerk-Treasurer. And this is a real big job. We ask your active (and volunteer) help in the election of—- — BARTON COX FOR SYRACUSE Town Clerk-Treasnrer TUESDAY, NOV. 5, 1963 Vote The Syracuse Citizens Ticket Harry Nicolai, Chairman Paid Political Ad
