COUNTY CHAMPS—Members of the crack Pierceton cross country team, again winners of the county cross country Competi-
Pierceton Cubs Are 1963 Cross Country Champs From This Week's Pierceton Press Coach Tom Sittier’s undefeated high school cross country team won their third consecutive county cross country title Thursday, Oct. 3 at the county fairground twomile track. The Cubs, paced by Gail Danner who won the meet with a 10 minute, 20 second time, placed four of their seven-man team in the first six places and won with an amazing 25 points. The lowest possible points for a team to score would be 15 and the Cub’s 25 appears to be an all-time county record. South Whitley was second with tgl points, followed by Larwill with SO and Leesburg with 104 for the first four places. Mike Miner, who has battled it out and won every scheduled race with Cub teammate Gail Dajmer, was edged, out of second spot by South Whitley’s Whitey Warner. Miner, this was his first loss this year, came off the course completely exhausted and was quite ill for some time. Pierceton’s Doug Gregory was fourth followed in order by Mike Vanator NW, Garth Cone P, Barker SW, King SW, Helf rick of Larwill, and Conley of Claypool to round out the first ten finishers and receivers of ribbons.
