Home Demonstration club met Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the grange hall. The president, Mrs. Ernest Richards opened the meeting and gave the club creed. Devotions were by Mrs. Fred Johnson with the members repeating the Lord’s Prayer. The song of the month, “Let There be Peace On Earth’’ was. sung with Mrs. Orlie Brown at the piano. Roll call response was “Something You Did on Halloween.” The safety lesson was given by. Mrs. Milton Schuder, her topic, “Fighting a Cold.” Mrs. Herbert Blue gave the lesson on “Foundation Garments.” There was a silent auction held. The meetipg closed with the club prayer. Hostesses were Mrs, Peter Savage and Mrs. Carl Bender. SYRACUSE WRC HAS GUEST NIGHT The Syracuse Women’s Relief Corps, John C. Adams chapter 278, entertained three . out-of-town chapters and guests Monday evevning, Sept. 30, at the American Legion hall. Games were the evening's entertainment and several, prizes were won. Mrs. Orlie Brown won the door prize. Other chapters attending were Ligonier, Bremen and Nappanee. There were 51 present, with two guests from Goshen and one from South Bend. Refreshments of sandwiches, cookies, tea and coffee were served by the committee at the ; close of the evening. '

CHURCH OF GOD BROTHERHOOD MEETS The Brotherhood of the Church of God, Syracuse, met Tuesday evening, Sept. 24, at the chqrch. Women of the Graeff Lutheran church of Syracuse, met Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the home of Mrs. Frank Bieber. The president, Mrs.- Ayallace Liniger, presided at the business meeting. The guests enjoyed softball and football after which ice cream and cake were served to Tom Beer, t>on May, Dennis Hart, Tim Levernier, John Leembn, Kevin Dwyer, and Steve Wolferman.

Syracuse Wins County Baseball Title

Syracuse is the new county baseball champion with a 10 win 1 loss record. North Webster placed second with a 9 win and 2 loss record. Pierceton, Sidney, and South Whitley, are in a three-way tie for third 5 place with an 8 and 3 record. Pierceton had won the title for the past two years completing each year undefeated. This year the Cubs were the only team to defeat Syracuse and their three losses came from Sidney, South Whitley and North Webster. Each team played 11 games and the championship decided from the won and loss record pf the season. In past years the championship was based on a tournament.
