Pierceton Trounces Warsaw Tuesday

The "Pierceton cross country team thoroughly trounced the Warsaw team on the new two-mile Warsaw high school track Tuesday evening. Final score was Pierceton 24, Warsaw 32. A Pierceton sport fan said this was “the first time in modern history that Pierceton defeated Warsaw in cross country.” Pierceton is the defending cross country champs in the county and is favored to win again this year. -Time for the event: 10 minutes, 38 seconds, with Mike Miner of Pierceton coming in first, and’ hot on his heels was Gale Danner, also of Pierceton, with a time of 10 minutes and 32 seconds.

In this meet the team scores were separated, with the following score: Pierceton 19 Syracuse 41 and Pierceton 18 - Millersburg 41. Mike Miner and Gale Danner, team mates on the Pierceton team; have been dualing it out in this season meets for first place with Miner the winner. In this meet Miner and Danner were clocked in at the same time, 10 min., 46 seconds, with the judges giving Miner the win with a less than 2 foot margin. L. Result Os Singles Tournament At Wawasee Bowl The 2nd annual Vacationland Master Singles bowling tournament, held at Wawasee Bowl, Syracuse, Indiana, ended Sunday, Sept. 22. The above tournament started on September 13 with 61 of the areas top bowlers competing in this scratch event. The first week end of competion was for qualifying, greatest amount of actual pinfall for 10 games. The 24 top men in this field started head and head match play. Total pins for three games to decide winner of each match. This being a double elimination type tournament two defeats were necessary for elimination. John Freemont Frisinger

Mr. , Frisinger, 71, passed away Sept. | 20, at the Veterans hospital in In- i dianapolis where he had been a patient since Aug. 29.. He had been in failing health for sometime. Born at Decatur, Ind., July 27, 1892, he was the son of John and Jane Frisinger. A retired insurance agent supervisor for Standard Life of Indiana, he moved to ] the North Webster community l from Indianapolis 20 years ago. He married Maryann Hill at Montpelier, Ind., in 1927, and she survives. ■ Mr. Frisinger attended the! North Webster Methodist church, : was a veteran of World War I, graduated from Indiana university | in 1914, and belonged to the Sigma Chi Fraternity. In addition to the wife survivors include a son, John F. Frising- ; er, Jr., of Richmond; a daughter, . Mrs. J. H. (Jane) Rieke of Ringwood, N. J.; six grandchildren; i two sisters, Mrs. J. American Legion and the Goshen City Church of the Brethren. Funeral serivces were held Saturday, Sept. 21, at 2 p. m. at the Yoder-Culp funeral home. Rev. Richard Allison of the First Brethren church officiated and burial was in West Goshen cemetery; Owen F. Frederickson Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2 p. m. in the Landis funeral home, Warsaw-, by Rev. Lavem Skinner for Owen F. He is a veteran of World War I and a member of the Leesburg American Legion. Surviving in addition to his wife ! are a son, Arthur of Warsaw; a daughter, Miss Byrd Frederickson of Fort Dix, N. J.; three sisters, Mrs. I. O. Ferverda of Leesburg, Mrs. Harold Berkey of Fort Wayne, and Mrs. John O’Brien of; Belfouche, S. D.; and a grandchild. Mrs. Elmer F. Neff Mrs; Phoebe Olive Neff, 75, 102 south Twenty-fourth street, Goshen,. mother of Orville C. Neff of Syracuse, died at 2:30 a. m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Goshen General hospital.
