Land 0' Lakes Tournament Held At Tippecanoe Country Club
Over 100 women braved the heat to play in the annual Land O’ Lakes tournament last Thursday which was hosted by the Tippecaoe Country Club this year. Participating clubs were Maxwelton, Wawasee, South Shore and Rozella Ford. After a buffet luncheon, the Tip- i pecanoe president, Kay Stine, m- i troduced officers of both the 18 hole and nine hole groups. She also presented the tournament chairman, Gloria Maish, who introduced her committee of Mary Stalter, Mary Aker and Phyl Landis. Tammy Light was then presented with a silver coffee and tea service as winner of the Mussen Medal tournament. Ted Mussen made the presentation. Door prize winners were Vera Bennett, Betty Kline and Jody Mosbaugh. Wild Life Babies Not Helpless The Indiana Department of Conservation, Division of Fish and Game, again this summer is receiving many requests for information of the care and feeding of young birds and animals, and also permits to keep them. In many cases these wildlife babies are not as helpless as one would believe; in-most cases the mother is not far away. In the event that something has happened to the parents these youngsters are equipped by ature with unusual powers to ’ take care of themselves. Another thing people who want to help these “Found” babies do flat realize is that when they are kept in captivity for a short length of time, they lose their ability for self preservation which all are endowed with. When they grow older, ! the “Finder” realizes what poor i pets they make. In most cases, when they are returned to the wild, they are unable to fend for themselves. Pet permits cannot be issued to persons for birds or animals that have been acquired during the closed seasons. Persons having these babies in their possession are in violation of the Fish and Game laws. Wildlife biologists advise people

Other officers are as folows: John "Miller - Vice president. Barbara Miller - secertary-treas-urer. Advisory committee - Mr. Younkin, Mr. Miller, Jack Schmidt, and Richard Bitner. The next meeting “will be held on Sunday, July 14, at 1:30 at the' pavillion. Anyone wishing to join is asked to attend the meeting. AREA FIREWORKS Three separate fireworks displays are scheduled for in ana around Syracuse on July 3-4. A. display will be presented at the Syracuse city park by the Syra-cuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce on July 4. The Cromwell Fire Department will sponsor fireworks, a water ski show and water balloon fights at the Watvasee State Fish Hatcheries 6 on Wednesday night, July S. The Wawa Drive-In on Road 13 will be the scene of fireworks on both July 3 and 4.
