By MRS. MAX McMILLAN Wayne and Jim Wenger, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Wenger of Oswego, have been ill with the flu, but are now able to be back in school and kindergarten. Mesdames Robert Shively, Edward Charlton, Dick Klopenstein, Loren Pound of Oswego and Mrs. Frank Rader of Leesburg enjoyed shopping in Fort Wayne Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Longenecker and children of North Webster were Sunday guests of his parents, the Chester Longeneckers, at Oswego. Keith Sutton, Leesburg, an employee of, the Milford-Machine Shop, flew to South Carolina on Wednesday on company business. Mr. Sutton returned to his home on Saturday. Mrs. Myrtle Yocum of Leesburg and Vic Longebrake of Burket spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Willard at Benton. Miss Hilda Ruch, Milford, and Mrs. Max McMillan of Leesburg spent Monday in Goshen. Mr. and Mrs. Max McMillan, Skip and Debbie, Leesburg, spent Saturday in Schoolcraft, Mich., visiting the C. K. McMillans. Mrs. Allan Giant, Beth, Joe and Troy were Sunday 'dinner guests of Mrs. Giant’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Millard Wallace, Leesburg. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Deeter of Leesburg spent Sunday with their son, Jerry Deeter, and family at Kendallville. Taylor Shively and Mrs. Iva Etter of Leesburg were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Amanda Stackhouse at Leesburg. Mr. and Mrs. Alan Valentine and family have moved into the Paul Redinger house in Oswego, formerly the Ed Hapner residence. Mr. and Mrs. Merrit Tenney, Ann, Gary and Dan of Oswego were Sunday guests of Dr. and Mrs. Norman Nine and Lisa at Warsaw. Mrs. Gert (Lew) Hartman of Leesburg enjoyed church and Sunday dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Tenney and family at Oswego. Mrs, Louise Crim of Oswego called on her daughter and family, the Dr. Norman‘Nines and Lisa at Warsaw Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Gene Tenney of Oswego served refreshments last week to members- of the sth grade in honor of her son’s birthday. Dan was 12 years old on Nov. 28. Mrs. Robert Allen and Mrs. Kenneth Hartman of Leesburg were South Bend shoppers Friday. Mrs. Ramon Alber, Retha and Mai-y of Leesburg were Sunday dinner guests of . Literary Club Meets a Leesburg Literary club met on ' the evening of Dec. 3 with 18 members present. The meeting ‘ was held at the home of Mrs. Ruth Deatsman. Mrs. Adeline Diehl was in charge of the program. Mrs. C. Smoker gave devotions. The roll [ call was answered by giving appropriate verses. The next meeting I will be the Christmas party. Boys’ Brigade The Boys Brigade of the Leesburg Brethren church welcomes ; all boys from the age of 12 years old on up. The meeting place is at the church every Wednesday evening at 6:30. Jack Crapachuttes is director and Rev. Kenneth Koontz is the minister. Rev. L. Skinner, pastor of the Leesburg Methodist church, announced a misprint in the choir schedules. They are corrected to read as follows: Junior Choir on Thursday at 3:30; chancel choir on Thursday 7. Rug weaving has become quite a growing business with one of the Leesburg citizens. Seems as though Mrs. Paul (Grade) Randall started weaving rugs on a huge loom as a hobbie. Mrs. Randall is now enjoying a profit from the beautiful rugs that she weaves. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Himes of Warsaw and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Randall of Leesburg spent Wednesday evening with Mrs. Randall’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hershel Baugher, at Kimmell. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth * Baugher, Melony and Tony of Warsaw were Tuesday evening guests of his sister, Mrs. Paul Randall, and Mr. Randall at Leesburg. MILFORD - LEESBURG Hospital Notes Mrs. Dan Musser of Milford was released last week from Murphy Medical Center in Warsaw. Mrs. Ervin Ratliff of Leesburg was dismissed last week from the Murphy Medical Center. Gerald Dausman of r 2 Leesburg was released last week from the Lirivill hospital in Columbia City. Mrs. Omiscia Roberts of Leesburg was admitted to the Murphy Medical Center Friday.

Mentone Blasts Syracuse November 30 At Mentone 94-39

On November 30 the undefeated Mentone Bulldogs thrashed the Syracuse Yellow Jackets by a 9439 count. Bill Nellans ripped the nets for 38 points and high point honors. Other Mentone players hitting in double figures were Newcomb 13, Stouder 12, and Lang 10. Pat Money and Mickey Jones contributed 11 and 10 tallies respectively for the Yellow Jackets. With the win, the Bulldogs retained the county Horseshoe. Box store is as follows: SYRACUSE (39) — Money 353, Crow 211, Simon 033, Niles 102, Jones 422, Richey 105, Zimmerman 145. B Team Downed 70-40 The second team took a beating Friday night at Mentone as the Bulldogs scored 39 points in the final half to down the Jackets, 7040. * At the midway point the score was Mentone 31 and Syracuse 28. Mentone scored 19 points in the third quarter while Syracuse rocked up only 9 but the big tally was yet to come. In the fourth quarter the Bulldogs scored up 20 points Eddie Craft of Milford was treated and dismissed Friday from Murphy Mejcal Center following an industrial accident. He suffered a burn to his left foot. Mrs. Ben Black and daughter of r 2 Leesburg was dismissed last week from the Whitley County hospital in Columbia City. Mrs. Nellie POe of Milford was released Saturday from Murphy Medical Center. She was re-admit-ted to the hospital Monday.

MENTONE (70) — Nelson 742, Warren 311, Zolman (John) 402, Shirey 454, Kinely 102, Parker 033, Whetstone (Mike) 122, Whetstone (Jim) 622, Haney 150. — Steve Carlson Mrs. Frederick Martin Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Walley funeral home in Elkhart fpr Mrs. Frederick (Molinda) Martin, 86, Elkhart, who passed away at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Milleman nursing home in Elkhart. Rev. Milton Bowman officiated. Burial was in Rice cemetery. Mrs. Martin was born in Milford on April 20, 1876. She married Frederick E. Martin on Dec. 16, 1907. He preceded her in death in 1953. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Augusta Caris, Llkhart; two sons, Lester, Elkhart and Ernest, Van Nuys, Calif.; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Russell Rolston Graveside services following regular funeral services were held for Mrs. Russell Rolston, 59, of south Sixth street, Goshen, Saturday afternoon, Dec. 1, at Oak Ridge cemetery in Buchanan, Ind. Mrs. Rolston was the former Mary Jane Poyser, a native of Syracuse and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Poyser.
