By MARSHALL ESTEP Candidate For The Lakeland School Board District 5 (At Large) X_ I would like to set out some facts concerning myself and my candidacy for the Lakeland school board. First, I am a lifelong resident of the Milford area, having been bom August 7, 1909. I attended the Jefferson township school. My wife is the former Helen Heeter of Elkhart. I have two daughters, Mrs. Rex (Judy) Eherenman of Warsaw, and Mrs. Guy (Peggy) Zimmerman of Fort Wayne. My social affiliations include membership in the Milford Lions club, of which I am a past president; Kosciusko Lodge No. 418, F. & A. M. at Milford; Scottish Rite of Fort Wayne; and the Kosciusko county Shrine club. I feel I can render a valuable service to the people of the Lakeland school district as a member' of the important school board. Neither I nor any member of my family is connected with any school in the Lake school district, or any other school or school district As a taxpayer in the school district in which I am seeking office, I offer my service to the Lakeland School Corporation. If elected, I will seek the advice and judgment of the people of the entire school district before rendering an opinion on the important matters facing the school board. Back To Or Brown I love ol’ Brown county so I can't wait and back I go To cross the covered bridge And climb the highest ridge, To survey the crimson and gold In foliage brilliant plus bold, To see russet and copper lays Blended with sky and sun rays. Sounds of the sorghum press To me is music nothing less Than symphony in a breeze Blowing thru poplar trees Or harmony painted In hues Seen In Brown county views That impart a tender touch To those who like art much. Geese honking on a pond — A hill and cabin beyond, Golden leaves from high Wafting thru sunset sky, Going to Nashville to dine — Looking upon antiques fine, A season that knows not slack, A people that possess no lack. Shocks of com in rows Where a pheasant crows, A taste of hickory-smoked fare, A sample of applebutters rare, Pumpkins in piles stacked, Walnuts in bushels packed — Sights like these and dozens more | Send me back to ol' Brown's door. Lawrence W. Hester
HOOSIERS RECEIVE MEXICAN THANKS ‘‘Gracia Senor, we of Mexico thank the Indiana Direccion de ' Conservacion for sending to us 1 your doves.” Raul Vargas, a Mex- c ico City hunter bagged a mourn- * ing dove reared and banded at 2 Freeman Field, the Fish and Game I Dove Research area near Seymour only four months earlier. Reports from 6,500 doves band- ( ed here indicate that Indiana pro- a duces and exports America’s No. 1 F game bird to Florida, Texas, and most of the states in between. Thirty other states bag 25 million each fall, and dove hunting s can be made available to Hoosier a hunters by favorable action by the “ 1963 General Assembly.

task for his constant opposition to the Kennedy program. She said, for example, he termed the peace corps ‘‘a bunch of freeloaders.” She said Capehart has been absent from Senate roll call 58% of the time, not even being present for the important Cuban resolution which he has taken the time to “talk about the length and breadth of Indiana.” She read Mr. Bayh’s statement back of President Kennedy’s stand on Cuba and will give him the support in the Senate he needs to augment his far-reaching program. She scored Capehart for being against anything progressive in the federal program proposed by the President. She read Mr. Bayh’s statement he released to the press following the President’s broadcast on the Cuban crisis, and the telegram Bayh sent the President at that time. They expressed complete support of the President’s stand.
