| Editor’s Mail | (EDITOR’S NOTE - The following letter refers to an article that appeared in The Goshen News recently. The article told of how Howard Rink of Goshen lost the sight of his left eye after an apple that had been thrown at his moving car, struck him in the face.) APPLE THROWING Dear Editor, I’m sure you read the article in The Goshen News. It is a terrible thing we all know only too well. The same thing could have happened to my husband last week while driving through Milford. We were on the street that passes the big storage building just before you cross the Big Four railroad, when a boy threw an apple at our car and if the window hadn’t been closed the apple would have hit my husband full in the face, breaking his glasses and possibly cutting his eyes and face. The boy lives (I presume) in the last house before passing the grain storage going west. There was a little tot with him who was right at the edge of the street and could have been hit by. the car. I wanted my husband to stop and talk to the parents (the boy disappeared) but being in a hurry he went on. The next time it happens whether in Milford or elsewhere we will stop. The .boy was 10 or 12 years old at least and this is to warn him and others they will be reported to the police if it happens again. We have the same kind of children in our town. Everybody dreads this silly Halloween trick or treat deal, a very unnecessary expense and nerve racking thing. I hope people of every town keep their children in their own towns as we have more than we can treat. Out of town cars stop and youngsters pile out like cats or dogs, six to ten in a car. After 150 to 200 visits and marked up windows we all feel we’ve had it. Respectfully, Mrs. James Isbell 518 South Harrison Syracuse, Ind. Dr. and Mrs. Allan Beer of Indianapolis will be week end guests of Dr. Beer’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Theo Beer, r 2 Milford.

THK CHURCH FOR ALL . . . ALL FOR THE CHURCH The Church is the greatest factor •a earth for the building of character and good citizenship. It is a storehouse of spiritual values. Without a strong Church, neither democracy nor civilization can survive, There are four sound reasons why every person should attend services regularly and support the Church. They are: (1) For his own sake. (2) For his children's sake. (3) For the sake of his community and nation. (4) For the sake of the Church itself, which needs his moral and* material support. Plan to go to church regularly and read your Bible daily.

Almost every frightening step of childhood is marked by a singular emblem of trust A child’s trembling fingers grope upward. A parent’s warm grasp is felt. And youth steps forward into new paths, fear melting into confidence. God must count on parental hands to lead His little ones to Him. For religious training is part of the vast unknown until Mother and Dad begin to lead their child each w r eek to Church. Yes! God counts heavily on our hands. There is no one else into whose palm our child’s fingers slip so readily. No others can teach the early lessons of faith and prayer so simply, nor illustrate them so vividly at home. Indeed, that loving hand of trust which leads a child to Church seems in turn to be clasped by the hand of God. t % . '■ .... . ’
