Take Part In Student Council Workshop At I. U. Michael Storms, a student at Syracuse high school, and George Wood and Roger Bowser, students at North Webster high school, are at Indiana University this week taking part in the second student council workshop. • In -all, 318 high school students and sponsors have registered for the program offered by L U.’s School of Education in co-opera- » tion the Indiana Association of Student Councils and the Indiana Association of Junior and Senior high school principals. The sponsors are serving on the workship staff. During the week-long program the students are studying the aims and objectives of the Student Council; growth of this citizenship | training agency in the high school; public speaking and parliamentary procedure, and Indiana school laws and regulations as they apply to school activities. Michael is vice president of the Syracuse student council, and George is president of the North Webster council. MILFORD GIRLS IN 4-H DRESS REVIEW Janice Rapp and Becky Hoerr of the Milford Senior Merry Maidens participated in the senior division of the county 4-H dress review held at the Lincoln school in Warsaw Wednesday, August 1. Janice modeled in the daytime dresses and separate categories, receiving red ribbons. Becky received a blue ribbon in the daytime dresses division. On Thursday, August 2, the Senior Homemakers club of Milford were represented by Linda Wertenberger, Linda Kesler and Kathy Wolferman, who competed in clothing division TH, and Allyson Anglin and Barbara Davis, who were in the intermediate division. — Reporter, Earleen Fisher. SYRACUSE Hospital News Mrs. John Scarbeary of Syracuse was released from the Gosh.en General hospital last week. Mrs. Herbert B. Tuttle of Syracuse was admitted to the Goshen General hospital late last week for medical care and released. C* Mrs. Lulu Francis of Syracuse was released late last week from the Goshen General hospital. Clifford Byrd, of Syracuse, an automobile accident victim of several weeks ago, is reported to be a little better and is responding somewhat to treatment. He is still unconscious and in severely critical condition in the South Bend I Memorial hospital. Donald Davis of 413 East Boston street, Syracuse, was released from the Goshen General hospital early this week. ■ . Harold Arnold, 600 So. Hunting- ■ ton street, Syracuse, of Arnold’s Grocery in Syracuse, was given emergency treatment in the Goshen hospital for a laceration of his left hand Sunday. The accident occurred when a boning knife slipped. Seven stitches were required to close the wound. Mrs. S. P. Searfoss of Syracuse was admitted Tuesday to the Lutheran hospital in Fort Wayne and underwent eye surgery on Wednesday. Her room number is 468. Joseph Jessop writes from Ball Memorial hospital in Muncie that his ankle operation was successful and that he will be released the latter part of next week.

SYRACUSE SCHOOL BAND TO TAKE TRIP TOMORROW Tomorrow, August 10, at 6 a. m. sharp, the Syracuse jun- ' ior and high school bands will leave for Turkey Run state park where they will spend most of the day following the trails and touring the park and its points of interest. Those accompanying them will be Mr. and Mrs. Chris Koher and James Lentz. Ryland Mock and Richard Workman will drive the buses.

(LEESBURG - MILFORD) Hospital Notes Marie Skrumelak of r 1 Milford Was treated in the emergency room of the Goshen General hospital Friday for injuries she received from a fall from her bicycle at her home. She was dismissed after treatment. Floyd Schuder, Milford, was released Friday from the Goshen, General hospital following medical treatment. Mrs. Donna Reed of r 1 Leesburg was dismissed Thursday from Murphy Medical Center in Warsaw. Mrs. Jennie Cox of Milford was treated last week in the emergency room of Goshen General hospital following a fall at her home. She was released after treatment to her nose and right knee. Don ' DeMuth of r 1 Leesburg was admitted to the emergency room of Murphy Medical Center over the week end for the removal of a foreign body from his eye. Gerald Martin, Milford, was treated Saturday in the Goshen General hospital emergency room for a bee sting. He was released after treatment. Ginger McCreary of Milford was admitted to the emergency room of Goshen General hospital Saturday for a laceration to her chin. She was treated and later released. Mrs. Ruth DeFries of r 1 Milford was released Sunday after treatment to a headjAjury. Billie Lay of Frankton injured his arm Saturday on the ski jump at Dewart Lake. Byron Yoder of r 2 Milford was admitted Tuesday to the Goshen General hospital for minor surgery. Jacob Doremire, Leesburg, was admitted to Murphy Medical Center Tuesday. Mrs. Louie M. Shoemaker of r 2 Leesburg was admitted Tuesday to the Murphy Medical Center. Michael Hamilton, Milford, was released this week from the Linvill hospital at Columbia City. AL KEEFER CELEBRATES 80TH BIRTHDAY SAT. Albert Keefer of Kale Island on Wawasee Lake celebrated his 80th birthday last Saturday evening at The Beacon. He was the guest of his friend and neighbor, Elmer Zombro. During the evening, he was presented with a birthday cake which he-then shared with other friends and acquaintances. He was also given gifts in honor of the occasion. PAULA SINN AND RAY HAAB ENGAGED Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Sinn of Paulding, 0., announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Paula, to Ray Haab, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Haab of r 1, Syracuse. ’ Mr. Haab graduated from Milford high school in 1955 and served with the armed forces. He is employed at the Farm Bureau in Warsaw. Miss Sinn is a registered nurse.

KATHLEEN LEEMON AT CAMP POTTOW ATTOMIE Kathleen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Leemon of Milford, will return home Saturday after spending two weeks at Girl Scout camp at Camp Pottowattomie at Winamac, Ind. Her parents, three brothers, John, Billy, and Donald, her sister, Andrea, and John Goppert of New Paris took Kathleen to camp July 28 and spent the day at the Pottowattomie park grounds. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Nyce and Vicki Sue of Milford were Monday evening callers at the cottage of Ray Neibert at Grassy Creek. Mary Ellen and Linda .
