New Salem News By Mrs. Ray Ferverda “Temper My Spirit O God” was sung by Corinne Morehouse as soloist during the hour of worship Sunday morning at New Salem Church of the Brethren. Janet Rarick was organ accompanist. St. Matthew 26:17-23 was scripture read by the speaker, Rev. E. B. Jones, who used the theme “Is It I, Lord,” for the message of the morning service. Visitors attending services were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Montel and daughter of North Manchester. They were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Artie Montel at Syracuse. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shively were guests at dinner Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Morehouse. Mesdames Morehouse and Shively attended a meeting Sunday afternoon in the Goshen City> Church of the Brethren for a briefing of the district conference to be\ held at Camp Mack in August. Mr. and Mrs. Donald DeFries, Jayne and Douglas of St. Joseph, Mich., spent Saturday in the home of Mrs. Ruth DeFries an<T" Mrs. Dora Neibert. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Teeple, Pamela and Jack of Leesburg spent Sunday in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Galen Whitehead of New Paris attended services at New Salem church Sunday evening. Mr. Whitehead was guest speaker and showed film of the mission/ work being done in Ecuador by Protestant missionaries. He was onfe of nine people sent by the Brethren church to encourage the work being done there. Several church groups are working together in the mission The trip was made there over last Christmas. Kenton, Brent, Wenda Sue and Rodney, children of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Wildman of Nappanee, spent Friday night and Saturday in the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ferverda.
