CHILDREN CLAIMED—If you have been following the Citizens of Tomorrow series, you will remember that the three little girls pictured above were without last names in the last issue of The Milford Mail. During the week we have re-
said about this later. The juniors would like to extend* our “get well” wishes to Diane Crafton, who is in the Elkhart hospital. Nilah Jonasch had a birthday this month and the class hopes she had a very happy one. School is going pretty well now. In literature the class is studying Edgar Allen Poe and Washington Irving. *ln United States history the class is studying the old West. They are learning about gold and silver strikes in the western states and old “cow towns” and “mining towns” of those days. They are also learning about some of the old cattle trails that cowboys used before railroads were built. The junior and senior home economics girls have been baking pies. Some Os the girls had never baked pies before; so, it was a new experience. However, they did not have any failures. The class treated the teachers by giving them some. SOPHOMORE NEWS By Anni Lange This a semester the sophomores will be having literature instead of English. They have had some very interesting stories. The first one wab called "‘Three Days to See,” by Helen Keller. The essay described the way Miss Keller would spend three days in which she could see. In the essay, Helen Keller tells how lucky people with eyesight are, and that everyone should use their eyes as if tpfnorrow they would not be able to see. Mrs. Williams tested everyone’s eyes by telling them to look\at the frontof the room, and then answerquestions without looking up again. No one could answer every question, which proves the point of people with eyesight are not really seeing clearly. The two other stories were about marine life, “The Blue Continent” and “KonTiki.”
The students taking health the first semester are now taking occupations. Everyone is giving reports and taking notes on the various reports. Last Friday there was a debate on the subject, “Farmers Do Not Need As Much Skill as Other Occupations.” Participating in the debate were Jim Sholtey, Mike Zimmerman, Dick Sharp and Warren Stephenson. The Latin class is starting to study Caesar’s Gallic wars. They
ceived many calls as to the identification of each of the girls. We can now identify them for you. In the first picture is LIZBETH ANN, 4J4 months, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Scott of r 3 Syracuse. In the second picture we see ELIZABETH JANE, 2, daughter
seem to be much more interesting than the things they studied the first semester. SEVENTH GRADE NEWS By Cindy Beer In home ec the girls are learning to keep their rooms much cleaner and neater. Miss Knox, the history teacher, is teaching the class very important matters about our country and other countries. In English the seventh grade class is learning to use better words and to say what they really mean.
