Pike's Peak is a humbug—as thou-
sands upon thousands are daily learning to their sorrow. The rush there now is equal to a thousand a day, while the most reliable accounts state that the best mines and leads that have been discovered in all that region, including Cherry Creek, do not yield to the hand fifty cents a day for working them. There is gold there but it has not been discovered in such quantities as to pay for procuring it. Many hang on in hope of better discoveries—thousands rush from the Peak in disgust and despair. An economical man can reach Pike's Peak on about $250; by toiling hard in the mines for a year and a half, he can get that money back. We hope our friends will be wise and indulge in no Pike’s Peak
proclivities. ———<>———
