Fillmore, Ind., March 22,1859. Mu. Brious :—Dear Sir: I notice in your issue of 19th March a statement which I think does me injustice, and which is likely to create a wrong impression with those who are unacquainted with the facts in the case. The statement was made in your notice of the 4th paragraph in Cooper’s defense in his trial with Muir, which reads as follows ; “ The loss of hearing complained of resulted from the malpractice of attending physicians." You state that “ there was some, but apparently insufficient, proof to sustain this paragraph.” The above stutc-

An Observer at Frof. Tinglcy’n Scientific Experimental Lecture, at College Chapel, Wednesday evening last, might have been entertained, perhaps, had the insufferable confusion and noise created by some dozen or twenty boys, with all the might of their heads and heels, permitted. As it was, the noise and confusion effectually prevented any intelligible appreciation of the exhibition or lecture. To a stranger, the conduct exhibited would certainly have presented the character for order of our public audiences in no enviable light. We speak the sentiments of our best citizens, when wc say. that the despotism wielded by a few crackbrained, harum-scaruna striplings over the enjoyment of the public, at places of entertainment in our town, is becoming an intolerable nuisance. Let watches be appointed, or officers bo in attendance, to arrest such offenders on the spot, or we may soon bid adieu to the company of the respectable or thoughtful at these places of resort. This, or the non-admittance of minors unattended by parents or guardians, we conceive to be the only effectual remedy for this intolerable and growing evil in rfur midst. OBSERVER.

"Y^T’K beg leave to call the atten tion of the Trade, and more especially the Physicians of the country, to two of the most popular remedies now before the public.

We refer to

Dr. (lins. ilFlnnr's frlrtirntnl Vermifuge and Liver Pills. We do not recommend them as universal Cure-alls, but simply for what their name purports, viz.: TIIK VERMIFUGE, For expelling Worms from the human system. It has also been administered with the most satisfactory results to various Animals subject to Worms. THE LIVER PILLS, For the cure of Liver Complaints, all Bilious Derangements, Sick Head-Ache, bcc. In cases of Fever and Ague, preparatory to or after taking Quinine, they almost invariably make a speedy and permanent cure. As specifics for the above mentioned diseases, they are Unrivaled, and never known to fail when administered in accordance with the

directions.

Their unprecedented popularity has induced the proprietors, Fleming Brothers, Pittsburgh, Pa. to dispose of their Drug business, in which they have been successfully engaged for the last Twenty Years, and they will now give their undivided time and attention to their manufacture. And being determined that Dr. M’Lane’s Celebrated Vermifuge and Liver Pills shall continue to occupy the high position they now hold among the great remedies of the day, they will continue to spare neither time nor expense in procuring the Best and Purest material, and compound them in the most thorough manner.
