AT THE

People’s Clothing Store, Southeast Corner Public Square, AT THORNBURGH'S OLD STAND.

Important Arrests.—Officer Jones, of Terre Haute, in company with one or! two others, arrested and brought to this place, one day l.^t week, a trio of; burglars, named Win. Turner, M, D.,1 Robert Hogue, and Wash. Kramer. A supposed confederate named Napier, having ingratiated himself with the remaining three, engaged in a plan for their detection, which was carried out with considerable success. The partieshaving planned the robbery of Mr. Clias. Bridges’ sore in Russel township, a large amount of counterfeit money was placed in the safe, and the key left in the door, to deter them from blasting it. Tn due time, as was foreseen, the store was visited by the suspected parties, an entrance effected, and tho money abstracted. The officers were mistaken as to the time of night the robbery would bo attempt 1, happening as it did between the hours nffl and 1(1, and were thus foiled in their designs to arrest, tho parties on the spot. 1 he plunder had been taken and apjior tinned among the thieves at tho residence of Dr. Turner in Parkersburg, at which place he was arrested, on the (Tues day) morning following.’ Kramer escaped by railroad, and had succeeded in reaching his home at Fillmore at the time of his arrest. Hogue, who had no Connexion with tho burglary farther than the manufacture of tin funnels to aid in blasting the vault, was arrested at his residence north of town, and all three lodged in jail. An examination of the ; parties was had on Thursday last before | Justices Lane and Jennings, who, from the presentation of facts, concluded to recognize Tumor in the sum of 81,500.! Kramer 81.000. and Hogue 8200, for their appearance at the next terra of the Circuit Court. Failing to give bond, they were remanded to jail. Connected with this, we hear of nu-. merous reports implicating one or more ol the above parties in the bank robbery at this place, but do not feel justified in ! giving them publicity.
