EX. GOV-
A. A. STEVENS' COUSIN.
I am first cousin of the late Ex-Governor Alexander H. Stephens, and have been postal clerk on different railroads since 1868. For ten years I hare been a sufferer from a cancer on my faee. which grew worse until the discharge of matter became profuse and very offensive. I became thoroughly disgusted with blood purifiers and pronounced them humbugs, as I had tried many without relief.
Finally I was induced to ufe B, B. P., which w*a about the 1st of February, .and continued its use until the latter part of Aprlt. The offenrive discharge decreased at once and the hardness around the cancer disappeared. It improved my general health and I.rapidly gained flesh and strength. The dtscharge gradually decreased and the cancel became less and less in size until nothing remains except a soar to tell the tale of a dangerous cancer. All who have seen me since I have commenced the use of B. B. B. bear testimony of try great improvement, and the scar on my face showB that it cured the cancer. I find that B. B. B. comes squarely up to what it is recommended, and I cannot say too much in praise of this wonderful medicine. I have triea them all, but B. B. B. stands at the top as a blood purifier.
The above is copiel from the Athens, Ga.,Ban-ner-Watchman, being the voluntary language of Mr. James A. Greer, which editor Gantt indorses: "Mr. Greer is an honest, upright citizen of Athena, who had a bad canoer, and his numerous friends thought that he oould not live very long, &8 the cancer was grndually sapping the foundation of his constitution, but now looks well and hearty."
2 Against 18.
Seveyal physicians have pronounced my disease blood poison, caused (by paint or lead in the paii»t, but they could not cuie me. Last summer I used eighteen bottles af a largely advertised blood medicine, which did me no more good than so mueh water.
I have used only two bottles of B. B. B. and an proud to say that I have received greater benefit from them than from the eighteen, and am now rapidly recovering. There is no question about the superiority of B. B. B. over all blood remedies. 215 Reynolds street.

A MEDICINE NOT A URINK.
High Authority.
Hop Bitters is not, in aijy sense, an alcoholic beverage or liquor, and could uofc bo sold, for use, except to persons desirous of obtaining medicinal bitters.
GREEN B. RAUM, U. S. Com'r Internal Rev.
WASHINGTON, D. 0., Sept. 24,1884. Dear Sir—Why don't yon get a certificate from Col. W. H. W., of Baltimore, showing how he cured himself of drunkenness bv the help of Hop Bitters. His is a wonderfal case. He is well known in Rochester, N. Y-, by all the drinking people there .He is'known in this city, Cincinnati, New Orleans, New York in fact all over the country, as he has spent thousands of dollars fpr rum. I honestly believe his card would be worth thousands of dollars to you in this city and Baltimore alone, and make thoueands of sober men by inducing the use of your bitters. ,•

Prejudice Kills.
"Eleven years our daughter suffered on a bed of misery under the oare of several of the best physioians, who gave her disease various names but no relief, and now she is restored to us in good health by Hop Bitters, that we had poohed at two years before using it. We earnestly bope and pray that no one else will let their sick suffer as we did, on account of prejudice against so good a medicine as Hop Bitters."—The Parents—Good Templars.
MnrfoN, Del., Feb. 10,1886.
Having used Hop Bitters, the noted remedy for debility, nervousness, indigestion, etc., I have no hesitation in saying that it is indeed an excellent medicine and recommend it to any one as a truly tonic bitters. Repectfully,
Rev. Mrs. J. H. ELLGOOD. Scipio, N. Y., Deo. 1,1884.
I am the pastor of the Baptist church here and an educated physician. I am not in praotice, but am my sole dootor, and advise in chronio cases. Over a year ago I recommended your Hop Bitters to my invalid wife, who has been under medical treatment of Albany's best physioians several years. She has been greatly benefitted and still uses the medioine. I believe she will become thouroughly cured of her various complicated diseases by their use. We both reccommend them to cur friends, many of whom have also been cured of their various ailments by them.

Cured of Drinking,
"A young friend of mine was cured of an insatiable thirst for liquor that had so prostrated his system that he was unable to do any -business. He was entirely cured by the use of Hop Bitters. It allayed all that burning thirt took away the appetite for liquor made his nerves steady and he has remained a steady and sober man for more than two years, and has no desire to return to his cups, and I know of a number of others that, havf been cured of drinking by it."—From a leading R. CALLAHAI'S "CASE
1
An Application for Bail to Be Heard
'S0011,
tV
i'
^From Thursday's Dally
This morning in the Circuit Court John E. Lamb and McNutt & McNutt, attorneys for Cornelius Callahan, who is indioted for the murder of Jesse Harmon, of Sullivan county, filed an application for a change of venue in the case from Judge Mack, which
waB
Mr. Lamb this morning called attention to a peculiar feature in connection with the case and one that may out a very important fifiure in it# determination. It is that Haunon was buried without either a postmortem or an inquest being held over him,' as the law prescribes. It is the duty of the Coroner of Sullivan county to perform the latter duty. Harmon died on Saturday and was buried oh Sunday. The defense, it is believed, will insist that the doctors killed narmon and that his death would not have resulted if they had not cut him open to take the bullet out.
Nothing further w&s done about agreeing upon a judge this afternoon. From Friday's daily.
The Callahan case was today set down before Judge Allen as special judge and an effort will be made by both sides to have an early trial, possibly in June. The indication^ this afternooD were that the state would not resist the application for the defendant to be admitted to bail in the sum of $5,000, which Calla han is ready to give. It is probable that he will be released on bond tomorrow...,.
From Saturday's Daily.
Cornelias Callahan was released on $5,000 bond by Judge James M. Allen, sitting as sr6cial judge, in the Circuit Court, this morning about 10 o'clock.
OBhis
release he at once proceeded to
his home south of the city on the I*rairieton road. Mr. Callahan's bondsmen are Michael Qoiulan, J. H. O'SaUivan, Patrick W. Stack, Martin Cassady, Patrick C. Mohan and Anton Mayer,.
A CLEVEUU MURDER.
$':
CLEVELAND, May 12.—Another atrocious murder was committed in Cleveland this morning, but unlike previows affairs of this nature, the supposed murderer is safely locked up in the Central Station. The murdered man was first noticed in Robinson & Nixon's saloon on St Clair street near the Cleveland Theatre, a few minutes before 1 o'clock this morning. He was. not intoxicated, to all appearances, but seemed to be in a rather combative mood. While he was in the plaoe five or six other visitors became involved in a quarrel over a bull dog. Some person took offense at a remark the owner made to. him, and a fight edemed imminent. The stranger stepped up and engaged in conversation with the man, who, it is believed, afterwords killed him. The stranger was told that if "he did not keep his mouth shut he would get a rap on the jaw." Suddenly one of the men Btruck the stranger a heavy blow, evidently in the face, and he fell to the stone sidewalk. His assailant stood over him moment and then left, followed by the crowd. A patrol wagon was summoned and the wounded man was taken to the Central Station. He was placed on a stretcher in a rear corridor and soon afterward died. The murderer proves to be a fellow named Bill Higgins, a desperate character, and the victim Harry Gorman, a Bailor.

granted.
Mr. Callahan was in court at the time in consultation with his attorneys and was lookipg well. Mr. Lamb and Prosecutor Henry endeavored to agree upon a judge before whom the case could be heard. Judge Sfiyder, of the CrawfordsviUe oourt, was in the court room and was asked by the attorneys if he would oonsent to hear the customary application in the case for bail. He said he would not be able to hear th« case. Che talk then drifted in the direction of Judge Allen, without any definite result bein& reached. About 11 o'clock Callahan was taken back to jailt

Not Happy.
Ky., May 12—Thfef bay
colt Montrose, the son of the Duke of Montrose, dam Patti, won the great Kentucky Derby. It was not a great race, but it was a pretty one. The time, 2:393^, makes a poor comparison with Ben Ali's, last year, when the latter lowered the Derby record to 2:363^, after a magnificent contest, but it is net bad. The weather in the morning looked a little threatening, and at 2 o'clock a slight shower fell. It lasted only a few minutes though, and did not affect the track in the least. Long before the first drop fell streams of vehicles and street oars, packed and jammed, had filled Churchill Downs with an immense throng, second in numbers only to the memorable gathering at the Ten BroeckMollie McCarthy race. The field was open to the public, and it looked like about one-half of the big Commonwealth of Kentucky had been dumped down there. In the grand stand the gay costumes of the ladies at the north end and the fluttering of their fans afforded a pleasant contrast to the mass of humanity packed together like Bardines over all the other space available. There must have been twenty thousand people present.
General Robinson, of Lexington Col. Green, of St. Louis, and Col. M. Lewis Clark were the judges. The horses got off in the firbt race without much delay. It was for maiden two-year-olds, and there ere seven starters. Cast Steel won in the fast time of 1:03%.
The second race—mile and a quarter— was won handily by Montana Regent in 2:11%.
The crowd grew nervous waiting for the big event of the day, and there was a murmur of applause 'when Colonel Clark rang the bell for the Derby. Jim Gore was the first out of the paddock. He galloped by the stand slowly, and was greeted with cheers. His fore feet were wrapped with red flannel, and he appeared stiff. Pendennis came next. The dark-brown Calitornian looked well and attracted much attention. When Banburg appeared, however, he was greeted with loud cheers, showing where most of the money was. He looked well, and his backers were confident. The friends of Pendennis were also quite enthusiastic. Lacky Baldwin had said before the race he was a better horse than Goliah, and that was conclusive enough to many who got within the range of the circulation of the statement. Out of the original 119 entries there were only only seven starters. These were: Banburg, who was ridden by Blaylock Jacobin (Stovall), Clarion (Arnold), Montrose (Lewis), Pendennis {Murphy), Jim Gore (Fitzpatrick) and Ban xan (Godfrey). The post odds were 7 to 5 against Banburg, 4 to 1 against Jacobin, 15 to 1 against Clarion, 15 to 1 against Montrose, 8 to 1 against Pendennis, 3 to 1 sgainst Jim Gore, 7 to 1 against Ban Yan. The distance was one mile and a half.
They started out of the chute, and Billy Cheatham, of Nashville, who sent them off, had only to drop his flag once in vain. The second time, after a hreathless silence, "They're off" went up simultaneously from .the thousands of throats in the grand stand, Jacobin led off, followed closely by Ban Yan and Montrose, With the rest in a bunch. As they ewerved into the stretch Ban Yan leaped to the front. Montrose maintained a good second, and Jaoobm third. Down the stretch the whole of them closed up beautifully, Montrose keeping WPII to the front all the time. As they came down past the grand stand a great shout arose as they flew by in the order named: Montrose, Jacobin, Banburg, Ban Yan, Jim Gore, Pendennis, and Clarion. Jim Gore seemed to be taking things easy, maintaining bis position past the quarter, where Montrose still led. Ban Yan second, and the other son of King Ban third. Pendennis was sixth, and Jacobin had dropped back to last plaoe. At the end of the mile the positions were not materially ohanged. Jim Gore seemed to falter, but gathered himself up to third plaoe at the three-quarter pole. There Montrose still led, Ban Yan alongside 6f Gore, and Banburg seoond. They whirled into the stretch, and Fitzpatrick was seen to be urging the popular son of the Hindoo* As they came around the turn Pendennis threw up his tail and gave up. He seemed to be clear out of form, and ran a miserable race from beginning to end. Montrose still led, to the surprise of all. Fitzpatrick had been instructed to win with Jim Gore if he had to kill the colt, and, as he laid on the lash in the stretch, the horse was plainly seen to be limping. Lewis gave Montrose the rein, as it was nip and tuok between the two for a moment, but the former held on nobly and passed under the string a winner by two lengths, Jim Gore seoond. He had led with apparent ease from the grandstand without the touch of whip, and looked able to go another quarter. Jacobin was third Banburg, the favorite, fourth Clarion, fifth Ban Yan, sixth, {and Pendennis, last. Jim Gore was limping terribly at the finish. It is thought he will never be able to start again. Montrose is owned by La bold Bros., of Cincinnati, and was bred by Milton YouBg at the McGrathiana stud.

About twenty yaars ago I dlaooveredo ttttfe sore oa my cheek, and the doctors pronounced it canoer. I have tried a number of physicians, but without receiving any permanent benefit. Among the number weroone or two specialist*. The medicine they applied was like fire to the sore, causing Intense pain. I saw a statement in the papers telling what 13. 8. S. had done for others similarly afflicted. I procured some at once. Before I had used theseeehd bottle the neighbors could notice that my canccr was healing up. My general health bad been bad for two or three years—I had a hacking dough and spit blood continually. I had a severe pain In my breast. After taking six bottles of S. S. S. my cough left me and I grew stouter than I had been for several years. Sly cancer has healed over all but a little spot about the size of a half dime, and It Is rapidly disappearing. I would advise every one with canoer to give S* 8. S. a fair trial.
