THE WONDER
Is
becoming
universal as to how such an im
mense sale coiflid be created in Lowell for HOOD'S SARSAPARILLA. But, my friend, if you could stand behind our counter a week and hear wliat those say who are using it, the reason would appear as clear as the noon-day sun. The real curative power of HOOD'S SABBATABILLA demonstrates itself in every case where our directions are faithfully regarded. We would that we might get
before
the people a fractional part of the
confidence that is expressed to us every day in this medicine by those who have carefulf noted (without prejudice) its effects upon the blood and through that upon the whole system, stimulating all the functious of the body to perform the duties nature requires of them. Try a bottle and satisfy yourself.

BY an' act oi the Minnesota Legislature the city limits of St. Paul have been extended so as to take in all that portion of Ramsey county in which St. Paul is situated lying between that city and Minneapolis. As this incites a great deal of land as yet very sparsely settled and carries the limits of St. Paul close up to those* of Minneapolis, the people of the latter city are disposed to raise a racket about it. But the thing has been done and their protests are unavailing. An immediate effect of this increase of territorial limita will be to add two or three thousand to the poput lat ion of St. Paul and aid it materially the tierce fight between tbe two ci ii£ for^census superiority.

VLET EL AND AND SILVER. It having come to the ear* of the friends of the silver dollar in CragraBB that President-elect Cleveland waa in favor ot a suspension of the coinage, and fearing that he might take strong ground on that side of tbe question in hia inaugural, they united in an address to him
him to avoid committing himself
at that time oi until they had had an opportunity of fully presenting their views to him. To this letter a reply has bean received and while not yet made public it is known that in his answer he declares himself in favor of ths suspension of the co'nage of silver dollars. He ex presses the fear that unless this is done financial troubles may arise. But with characteristic consideration for the opinions of othere and in accordance with hie commendable anxiety to make no mistake he assures them that the importance of the subject and the earnest opinions oi the friends oi the silver dollar, as evinoed by their communication to him, will make it aeccesary for him to give his earnest attention to the subject before his views a are presented to the public. While it can not help being a matter of regret, to all who believe in the wisdom of standing squarely by the silver dollar, that his present views on the subject are adverse to that policy, it is nevertheless a matter of congratulation in every way that he will give to the question a full hearing before making a final decision. If tbe friends ot the silver dollar can not make so strong a presentation of their case as to convince as clearheaded, strong-minded and sensible a man as Cleveland, whose purposes are wholly honest and whe is determined to do the right thing—if they can not convince him then perhaps all of us had better carefully review the grounds ot our belief and see if a sufficient reason can be found for the faith that is is us. But just at present the GAZBTTS is strongly of the opinion that the path of wisdom lies in tbe direction of making silver the absolute equal ot gold in the coinage laws ot the country instead of discrediting it more than is now done by the present discrimination against it.
