$200 Safceertbed Thee Far Tewarts New Wharf. •, I Readers of the GAZBTIB aire familiar with the fact that a wharf has been decided on to oest $890 provided half of the amount can be raised by private subscription. Secretary Oakey reports that $263 of this bee already been subscribed aad pioepectn are the remainder will be bofore long. The wharf will probably be made of cinder as bed with stone curb. It will have 196 feet frontage on the river at the foot ot Walnut street and extend hack from tow water mark to Water street.
The present wharf is a miserable affair *pd subjects shippers to yet additional expanse and trouble here. For inetnnce, at Yiacennes where there is a wbarl, drayage on barreled shipments is cents per barrel here on account of the terrible pull up the bank, etc., it is from 8c to 4c per barrel. Wheat and corn costs twice se much to deliver.
There are also various discooragemeats from our whari to steamboat men as it requires twice as long to unload, and the freight must frequently be carried on loot a long distance-

Greenbeckers have at their head ot their ticket that gallant General, B. F. Butler. There was no use of fooling with either of the old parties, for the Gzesnbecksrs expected to near BOTH PABTESS alike and draw from both. They wanted a good ticket—a representative ticket. It wae true they had no funds to carry on a canvaea like the old parties, but the ttfee were propitious. Every weid and township was organs ined. Men had joined who iiid never voted With' tnem before—both Democrats and Republicans. Through B. F. Batter and the breaking op of the old parties, they expected to carry the state two years hence and elect a president ia 1888. Mr. Kankin said he ought tobeia Indianapolis to-day at a Greenbeckers? conference to meet Col. Plymptoa, Butler's manager. The prospect is that the Greenbeckers would have their share on
