The articles taken were as follows: One box of ci gars, one case of chewing gum, twelve tope, three French havpo, a doaen leadpencils and six wooden bowl pipes. The articles taken would indicate that the burglary was committed by somfe boys. This morning the police arreotod Wood Ferguson, a lad,of 14, on suspicion of the theft. Though young in yeara he has been in an extensive amount Of trouble and the police say he is one of the hard est youths for his age in town.
Tlie boy's parents can do nothing with him, aad he leaves home whenever he feels disposed and goes on a tramping tour over the country. Hie latest exploit in this direction wss with another boy named Keeney, and he hasn't been long back. Ferguson lives on north Sixth street and would have to pass the store that was robbed tb get home. Last night he didn't get home ontil very late —not until about 2 o'clock this morning. He says he Was at the Opera Houee first and then went to the Knights of Pythias fair. He says he went down to the Filbeck House from Dowling Hall te get a drink of water last night and there heard some persons talking about a .plaoe on Sixth street being broken open. He says he noticed that the window was broken as he passed the store going home. Ferguson is an intelligent, bright-faced lad, and when asked in police headquarters this morning why he didn'dreforin, he replied "Why I have. I tell yon I was in good company last night." This he said in a tone tbat meant to say that it wasnt often that he was.
The Chief discharged Ferguson to-day, there being ho direct evidence to hold, him. There is a very strong suspicion, however, that he knows all about it.

A WILY WIDOW.
How Hor Hand wao Won and Lost/ PEABSOH, Oa., Feb. 81.—For some months rivalry between Dud Mabley and Bird Mabley, two brothers, for the afisotionsof Mrs. Jatiy McCook, a sprightly widow, has been the gossip of the County. To eaoh she was equally sweet, and to each pledged her troth. The nuptials should be quietly celebrated, so ss to be a surprise to the community when it hsppened. In this manner eaoh one imagined himself to be the sole possessor of the widow's heart. It was arranged with Bird Mabley that Widow McCook should meet him at a certain point on Ocmulgee river and enjoy the fruition of love's young dream. On the night in question Dad Mabley learned of tne intended move and went to the widow's boose and besought her to com* out and wed him. This she refused to do, and locked the front door. The dissppointed lover sat on the doorstep and resolved to hold the fort until she should appear. When daylight came he gained admittance, hat found that the lady was missing. She had eecaped through a back window, and seeking the place of appointment with Bird Mabley the two were married, and returning home later in the day, received the bleesiog of the watcher on the doorstep.
