Disturbing a Mormon Meeting. The cases against Theory A. Clearwater and James Schee for disturbing a meeting conducted by Mormon E'ders ritookey and Anderson in Sugar Creek township on the 26ih of last Slav, were cilltd lor trial in the Ciicuit Court. The indictment charges the defendants with, by loud and unnecessary talking, hallooing, and by the use of profane language, and by Solent actions, interrupt, molest and disturb a certain 'collection of inhabitants of this state, then and there met together for a lawful purpose." Close is now at Iowa City, the weather being too cold to do anything just now with the new paper mill at Ellsworth, but either he or his sen, who is grown and married, will reach here about the 11th. It is not decided finally, which of them will take charge of tbe mill here. This is not because they expect to retain their paper mill &t Iowa City, but because it is only one branch ot their extensive business. Mr. Close has a large linseed oil factory there. He used to make it from flax seed, and built the paper mill in order to use his flax straw. Intelligence received here of the death of Mrs. Mary A. Cronin. the well-known milliner, and wile of Cornelius S. Cronin, will be received with feelings ot the most profound regret by her many friends who knew her but to love her. The deceased left Terre llaute several months ago in the hope of lestoring her enfeebled

marked her for a victim, and she died at San Antonio, Texas, on last Friday night. Her husband left here a few weeks ago with their two children to attend her sick bedside and were present at her departure ior the land beyond. The remains will reach this city on'Thursday, and notice ot the funeral will be given hereafter.

Mrs. Cronin's maiden name was Mary A. Brady. Her father is dead, but her mother, Mrs. J. Brady, is living here. The deceased was born in Newark, N. J., aud was between 2d and 29 years of age at the time of her death. She leaves two children, the oldest about fite. Anther child, a boy. died. Tte deceased has two sisters—Mrs. Kate L. Downey, of Louisville, and Miss Ruthie Brady, who resides here—and one brother, Joseph Brady, a compositor, who has worked on different city papefi.

By all those who knew Mrs. Cronin and her amiable qualities both of mind and heart, her loss will be keenly felt, and her husband and relatives, in theii sore affliction, have the heartiest sym« pathy of alL

On the 22nd. of Deoember, Ut^le Evai the bright and loveable little daughter of Mr. John Hathorn, died from membransi croup. She was in her eight ytar and was loved by all who knew ner. She was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery bn the 24tb, and notwithstanding the Unfavorable weather a large oonoourse of frienda followed her remains to ita last resting place.

Jnr. John Gommery, who lived the greater portion of his lire in Clay Cftunty, but who 4« well known. through thia township, died at tbe home of his son ia the southeast portion of the township at the age of 79 years. He was buried at Oak Hill on Sunday the 30th day of December, l'helps, the brick moulder who was lying so low with lung fever at our last writing and whom nobody thought would recover is able to be out. He is in hia 71at. year and his recovery is almost a miracle.

At one of our literary entertainments the question was asked on the stage why A. A. Gordon was the most degraded man in town. The audienc* could not answer, but Gordon, who ia equal to any occasion, replied that it wat because he sold the low down binder Tbe answer was 'kerroct."

The first day of January being tk« 10th anniversary of the marriage of J. S Lee a large number of their friends gathered at their home in^tbe east part of tlie township in tbo evening and a magnificent oyster supper was served. A great many presents in tbe shape of tin-ware were presented, aad a pleasant evening was passed.

Aymos Laycock, a former resident of this township but now of 1'rairieton, passed through our town on the 27th. Mr. Laycock is away up in the eighties and is as tough as a pine knott.

Mr. and Mrs. Dr. Littlejohn have been absent several days in Green county, called there to the bedside of Mr. Dahotf, who is the father of Mrs. Littlejohn. He died on Saturday and was buried on Monday. He was in the 50th year of hia age.

The Riley Cornet Band-have employed an instructor from Patoka. He seems to understand his business. The boys are determined to leave nothing undone to make tbe lliley Cornet Band one of the best in the State. The talent is here and all they want is experience.

Fish, oi the celebrated Fish Brothers' Manufacturing Company, Racine, Wis., in which he says: "lour city has been mentioned tome as a favorable point lor the manufacture ot the Fish Brothers' wagon. I shall visit your city in a few days, and would like to meet some of your business men and lay the matter before them. Can command a trade of about ten to twelve thousand wagons annually, at a" gotd margin, and think of locating "some* wherein your state." 4
