Poker in the Household
Tlainfleld Progress: The introduction ol poker into the household cannot fail to
liave a wouderfa' effect upon the rising generation. Society is doing it—high .society—and the same society will feel the »smart of it by and by. Since some ofour fashionable and brainless young ladies Have begun to sip wjne, to smoke ciga-r-ijfirettes, to use just acute little bit of pro-
v,''Canity
and to play poker, it is just poss
ible that the young men who are on thlookout for women to become their wivee «and, in the natural rourse of things, tea :t:stoecome the mother of their children, will make their selections from among those "who are not altogether so fashionable, fCvbuta trifle more virtuous.
Key Notes and Spell-Binders. Philadelphia Times: Out in Indiana "where every stump orator is refcorded 11k the party organ as having "set the keynote of the campaign," or as having' 'held j^fais audience spell-baund by his eloquence," it has been found necessary to reduce each of these operations to a single "word. So when the orator returns from ,the school house meeting, he is asked the simple question, "Was your speech akey.v' noter or a spell-binder and the answer taithtully recorded. This effective method ot characterization must now be r.
\|raasferred to Ohio.

Half Out of His Head.^ 'Blessed be the-man," said Don Quisote's weary squire,, "who invented sleep.'* Sancho's gratitude is ours, but what if one cannot lor any reason enjoy that excellent invention "Nervousness in me had become a disease," writes Mr* William Coleman, the well known wholesale druggist of Buffalo, N. Y. "I could not sleep, and my nights were either passed in that sort of restlessness whish. nearly crazes a man, or in a kind of stupor, haunted by tormenting dreams. Having I taken Parker's Tonic tor other troublesTl! tried it also for this. The aasult both' surpris#! and delighted me. My nerves were toned to conceit pitch,, and, like Caesar's fat men, 1 fell into the ranks of those who sleep o' nights. Lshouid »dd that the Tonic speedily did away with the condition of general debility and dysoccasioeea by my previous sleep-
essnesa, and gave me strength and perfect digestion. In brief, the use of the Tonic thoroughly re-established my health.. I have used Pajker'8 Tonic with entire success for sea sickness and for the bowel disorders incident to ocean voyages."
This preparation has heretofore been kaown as Parker's Giaper Tonic. Hereafter it will be advertised and sold under the name of Parker's Tonic—omitting the word •'ginge*." Hiseox & Co. are induced to make this change by the action of unprincipled dealers who have for years deceived their customers by substituting interior preparations ander the name of ginger. We drop the mis leading word all the more willingly, as ginger is an unimportant flavoring ingredient in our Tonic.
Please remember that no change has been or will he made in the preparation itse.f, and all bott.es remaining in the hands of dealers, wrapped under the' uan^e of Parker's Ginger Tonic, contain the genuine medicine if the fac-simile signature of Hiscox & Co. is at the bottom of the outside wrapper.
