ANNA
JACKSON.
The following detailed account of the affair is from the Indianapolis Sentinel: Bradford Mosely (colored) was .shot and killed last night at 7:30 o'clock at the Stock Yards, by William Haukins. Cbas. Shell, Marshal ol West Indianapolis, placed HaDkins under arrest. The patrol wagon was telephoned for, and liankins was taken to the Central Nation, where he was charged with murder and locked up. Kenilian, Long & Hedges were notified, and the murdered mi.n was soon brought to the city. The Coroner was sent for and viewed the remains at their establishment on East Washington street. Both men are colored. Mosely and Hankins were both employed at the hotel at the Stock Yards. Hankins was given work in the kitchen. Mosely was employed as a bootblack and general help about the barroom. A few moments after 0 o'clock and two men were talking together in the kitchen, Mosely made some jesting reference to Hankins in connection with a little nurse girl. Hankins told him not to talk about him that way. Mosely laughed and asked him what he wouid do about it. Kmikins said he would show him. This sort of badinage was continued for some moments, when in some way the two men were brought together, and a scuttle ensued. Hankins tr'cd to reach in his breast pocket to draw a revolver. Upon seeing this move Mosely started and run out of the door, closely followed by Hankins, who fired two shots at him before lie left the kitchen. Mosely ran to the laundry, which is underneath (he kitchen. When next, sten Hankins had Mosely down on the tloor. Mosely said to Frank Hurley, a bartender, "Take him oil." Hankins was ti-ken otF and went up stairs. The barteuder, Hurley, says there was one shot fired in the laundry. When Hurley came back inlo the laundry. Mosely had arisen to his feet and was leaning against a table, with both hands crossed over his breast. Hurley went to him, seeing that he was hurt, and beard a gurule from his lungs, and asked him if he was hurtMosely made no reply, but in another «econa dropped dead on the floor.
PERSONALITIES.
On the RockvHe Convention.
(By A Looker On.)
Wm. Mackhas a retentive memory. On the way home from the Rockville convention he repeated Mulberry Sellers' speech verbatim.
R. Van Valzah is a mighty good man to have in a convention presided over by a man who knows parliamentary usages
John Williams propounded seven unanswerable interrogatories to the delegate by telegram from Warren, and upset the littl3 scheme oi the Athenians
Dr. Hickson, ot Riley, was an old Mex-ican-war comrade of General Manson. What Tom Foley doesn't know about conventions isn't worth knowing.
Johnny Reagan led the triumphal en try of the victorious delegation into the city in splendid style. He is a born military man.
Col. McLean declared that he couldn't do any work but that of making the nominating speech. He was out till midnight talking like a machine and chasing delegates down like a young man. He was frequently mistaken for Tom Foley by people from the back counties.
Fairbanks, llamill and Reagan were out in nobly light gray suits. Wherever they went business began immediately.
Kinser aud Ivelley would make a strong convention—finu. The genial Captain Sankey kept perfect 6tep to the music on the triumphal march.
Delegate Little from Sugar Creek wasn't there for nothing. You can count him one at least.
Mike Quinlan reflected credit on the working abilities of Otter Creek. We owe Mr. Collingsone tor firing out the press from the Rockville star chamber atter all the Valuable transactions were pictured on our note-books.
Tom Foley bad the Rockville massmeeting loaded, but Collings and Gillman wouldn't blow into it.
Beadle, of the Rockville Tribune, knows more about Free Trade aud Tariff '.hati all the Republican editors and congressmen in ihe State. One of these days iie'll get into congress on that'plank.
Hon. J. M. Compton displayed marked ability in handling a wildly tumultuo\is convention. His choice as prtsiding officer was a happy hit.
Hon. John Lee knew just how to subdue the fiery and untamed youngsters of Montgomery.
The Eighth district have taken charge of the old war horse of Montgomery, aud will keep him carefully trained for. the next race for Governor of Indiana.
Dr. W. T. Gott is still haudsome Imd single. Pleas nenrv, of Montgomery, knows how to yield a*point gracetully.
The youug Democracy of Vigo are "vosrorous" workers. So said the mildmannered Mr. Boocy, of Montgomery.
The Vigo county stvle of work fairly paralyzed^the up-district fellows." Martin Lee, of Vigo, met his cousin, Jas. Lee, of Montgomery, for the first time in some years, "at the Rockville convention. "Mr. Darrow," said Colonel McLe&ff, '"What do you Hunk t)f the Montgomery delegation "They are," said Abe in his most solemn stylo "as nice, qaiet, orderly a set of gentlemen as I.ever met. If there are any Sunday-school conventions in this district they should be sent there. But when it comes to log-rolling at a Democratic convent ion you Vigo county fellows re perfect paralyzers. A. THE MALLEYS ACQUITTED.
The Jury, After a Retirement of Less Than One Hour, Return a Verdict of Not Guilty
NEW HAVEN, CONN,July1.—The jury in the Jennie Cramer murder trial retired about 4 p. M. yesterday, remaining out less than an hour, and returned a verdict of not guilty. The Malley boys were then discharged.
The judge his charge said: "If you lind murder in the first degree, the jury must be satisfied beyond doubt of the important fact that arsenic was administered to the victim by the accused. If you have any doubt, that ends the case you Deedn't consider any other question at all."
Walter Malley went with his father to Tontine, and James accompanied his uncle to Wilkesbarre, Pa. Blanche Douglass was the guest of the jailer last night. Walter Malley says it will be the aim ol his life to ascertain how Jennie Cramer died, and to prove beyond doubt that the last time he saw her alive was on Thursday morning. She left the Malley residence with Blanche Douglass.

High School Gymnasium.
A few enterprising High School boys think that a good gymnasium would be a valuable accessory to the school, and they purpose establishing one. A beginning lias already been made with the conseut and encouragement of the school authorities. A good room in the basement of the Normal buijding has been placed at their disposal, and "is already partially fitted up. The boys themselves have contributed liberally, and they propose during the summer to raise fifty or seventyfive dollars and to place the gymnasium in first-class working order. Prof. Betz, who is in charge of the German Turning school, has consented to adviee the boys and superintend the organizing and equipment ot the room. If this sum can be raised the members will be able by regular dues to defray all current expenses in the way of teachers, etc. It is a praiseworthy enterprise, pregnant with much good to the High School and should be liberally encouraged.
ALone Fisherman.
Our readers will rememlwr tue antics of the lone fisherman in Hurapty Duinpty when in attempting to cast in the line attached to the flsiiing rod across his shoulder, lie jerks the tish hook into the "beliiud part" of his trowsers.
It is said that Jacob Farley while out on a log fishing at Greenfield Bayou yesterday, fairly outdid the 1. f.
Mr. Farley caught himself so thoroughly that'his howl as he tumbled off the log brought his companions quite a distance to his rescue. After being fished out, and having a slight surgical operation performed, he "stood" to his work nobly all day. He says business at his store is too brisk to allow of his "sitting round." He deserves the premium for the biegest "catch" of the season.

INJDTAKAPOLIS is disposed to bchilarious over the graduation there this year at the High School of a colored boy. In this, Indianapolis, enterprising as she is, is second to Terre Haute. Our fair Prairie' city graduated at her High School last year, two American citizens of African descent, and they are proving themselves valuable acquisitions to the cultivated forces of our city's life.

IRRITATION OF THE SCALP.
An Authentic Testimony.
Gentlemen,—For five years I have been greatly troubled with dandruff, with a severe itching of the scalp, and hair falling out. I have tried almost every known remedy, all proving worthless. Seei Burnett's Cocoaine and Burnett's Kalliston advertised, I procured a bottle of each, and am happy to state that the dandruff' is completely removed, and no ttching whatever remains.
