Policeman Cain ani Patrick last night arrested Joseph Felienzer, a Main street cigar dealer, lor drunkenness, disorderly conduct and carrying concealed weapons. He was fined 112.50 this morning.

There was a tremendous crowd in and around the court room this afternoon and for awhile it was feared something terrible wan going on on the inside. Investigation demonstrated that the excitement was canned by a bastardy case which is

on

trial this afternoon. The parties are Hat lie Red ford and Robert Jackson. They are from the country, but are well known in this city. Harper prosecutes and Mack defends.

A poorly dressed boy named John Drees, who said he was thirteen years old and the son of David Drees, was belore the 'Squire this morning for the purpose of having his step-mother arrested for an assault and battery committed on him this morning. He said she belted him over the head with a club and exhibited a wound on the left ear as an evidence of the collision. A'warrantwas sworn ont for arrest of Mrs. Drees.

A bastardy case created considerable excitement here this morning. It was continued, however, until Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock The suit was brought by Mary Ann Loften against Flemmlng Watkltjs. McNutt and Harper will defend, aud Hey and Spencer proaecutc.

Yesterday afternoon, the case against William Aytrs for cruelty to animals was dismissed bv the prosecuting attorney.

T. C. Mullick was fined $1 and coats for drunkenness. John Mitchell, ft vag, was arrested yesterday lor drunkenness, but was discharged this morning, on promising to leave the city.

MAYOR'S COURT.

Ye-'tcrday, His Honor Mayor Lyne, again assumed the judicial chair, after a lapse ot' about two months. The occas-

sion was a complaint brought by J. W. Mitchell against Isaac Metteuch, for keeping a vicious dog. Both parties live in what is called the stone jug, on north Tenth street. The dog had severely bitten Johnny Mitchell, a litile son of the plaintiff, on last Friday. Metteuch •was fined $1 and costs. Ed Pugh prosecuted, and B. V. Marshall defended.

.**. pursuance of authority vested in tmocralic Executive Committe of Vigo ounty,the undersigned give notice that a delegate convention wi.l be held at the Court House in ihe city of Terre Haute, on Saturday, July 8th, 1882, at 2 o'clock p. x. for the purpose of nominating candidates lo be plaoed on the Democratic county Uoket for the ensuing eleotion.

The Democratic voters of the several wards the city of Terre Haute, and of the townships of the county, are requested to meet in primary oonventlon at places to be deslg•ated by the respective Ward and Township Committeemen at 2 o'clock P. M. in th ownships, and at 8 o'clock P. M. In the city wards, on Saturday, Jnly 1st, 1882, and select •ve delegates In each ward and township to the said county oonventlon.

It is also ordered that at the same times ,nd places, such primary conventions shall select one delegate each, to each of the following conventions to thereafter called, State, Congressional and Judicial.

It will alsobs the duty of each ward and township to select, at their primary conventions, a committeeman to serve oa the Democrat County Executive Committee for the edsulng two years. By order of th Committee.

In view of the fact that Vigo County will entitled to fWenty-three]delegates ln'each these three conventions, the committee ecommends, that as there are but eighteen irards and townships, the remaining five lelegates be selected at large, by the county ion vention which meets on the 8th day of July, 1882.
