MEWYOKK, May 19.—Augustis D. Ltighton was hanged this morning at S:47 {or the murder of his mistress, Mary Dean.
The death warrant was read to Leighton in his cell and then the procession to the gallows was formed, Kev. Dr. Morgan proceeding and reading, "I am the resurrection and the life." Oak Bluff Cemetery Association. (From Thursday's Daily. A meeting of the corporators of the Oak iJlr.fi" Cemetery Association was held last owning at the olllce of Internal Itevenue •Collector Minshail on Ohio street. The iiU'ndtnrc was not large. President 11. W. Thompson was called to the chair and John 3 Beach was made secretary.
Mr. Beach as chairman of a committee appointed at a previous meeting stated '(hal the articles of association had been jmpaivd and placed on record and tliat it was now a corporation under the name of Oak Bluff Cemetery Association aud with thirty corporators, lie stated further that a seal had been ordered from a tteslgn made by Mr. S. 8. Early. The articles of association provide for the annual uleciion of ollicers and of a board of manager at meeting to be held on the 1st Tuesday in June. In view of the proximity of that date it was decidcd to wait until then lor the election of officers. A committee consisting of Ii. W. Thompson, Win. Mack, S. S. Early, "W. 11. McKcisn and John S. Beach was appointed :!o view and consider the question of suitipte grounds for the purposes of the association. This committee was empowered to invite to their assistance Mr. J. Earcshaw an eminent surveyor and civil cnj:i»Mfr of Cincinnati, who is engineer of the f?pi ing Grove cemetery at Cincinnati and a recognized authority as a landscape gardener and on all questions relating to I'M laying out and adorning of cemeter m. lie will be here Monday and on that day ilu:committee will view the several sites which have been proposed.

A Bad Mail Contract.
It fc&s not yet been announced who has secured tho contract for carrying tha mail 'from Terre Haute to 1'rairieton, Darwin, Merom and inland points south, but it is to be hoped there will be some improvement. The first contractor who got it sub-let i', to another and so on through "five or six hands, each one getting* .profit until the man who actually did (he work received Utile compensa ion and scarcely attended to it at all. The spostmaster here, and at the other offices named sent in a remonstrance to the P. •). Department and the contract was advertised to re-let.

The Clinton, 111., people do not believe the man at St. Louis is Patsey Devine's pal. He is thought to have left the country.
The general assembly of the Presbyterian chuch is in session at Springfield, 111., four or five hundred delegates being present.
The case ot ex-Governor Moses, on trial at New York, has been indefinitely postponed. His plea of insanity will bo entered to-morrow
Gleason'sknitting mill, at Seneca Falls, is burnine and will be destroyed. Loss, $100,000 insured. Three hundred operators will be left unemployed
The tanners of Chicago struck at noon to-day because the men who work in the preparing department were refused an advance of one dollar per week.
In the Malley trial to-day a druggist testified he sold Walter Malley four ounces of arsenic September G, 1881, for the purpose, he said, of killing rats.
Michael Turner, a passenger on the steamer AViscon&in, was arrested in New York to-day on suspicion of being connected with the Dublin assassinations
Senator Logan arrived at St. Louis this morning from Hrt Springs, Ark., much improved in health, lie will eo to Chicago to-night and thence to Washington after a short time.

An accident to a work train on the Northern Pacific road, near Spirit Wood, Minn., yesterday, killed W. L. Turner, brakeman Morris Racine, who was sitting on the tender, and a man named Lavrason. who was on the engine, and injured a hrge number of other workmen, some, perhaps, fata'ly Cause broken axle.

Y., aged twenty-three. l)r. Lewis Lambern. alias John T. Smith, suicided yesterday at Springfield, Mo by takiog morphiDe. He left a note faying men slandered him and would not pay him, and that death was prefer* able to life as he lived. He left several thousand pages of manuscript on medical s-ubjects and was evidently a man of learning. His papers showed him to be a relative of Bayarii Taylor.
