LONDON, April 28.—Dr. Lamson hanged at 9 o'clock this morning, was calm and composed.

Only three reporters were present at the hanging. The procession entered the yard of the prison at 8:30 when the prison bell was tolling the death knell. The chaplain headed the procession and was followed by two prison officials with their wards. The prisoner, who, until the time of starting, had been calm and composed, looked awfully pale and dejected and was very nervous. He was supported by wardens en either side and was with difficulty able lo descend the steps to the yard. lie was met by Marwood, executioner, at the foot of the steps The prisoner was bareheaded. The operation of pinioning him seemed interminable. He submitted without a word and hardly seemed to appreciate what was going on- From the steps there was a distance of aboutsixly yards to traverse to the gallows. Lamson was supported with difficulty from this point to the caffold. He swayed backward and forwards and stared wildly around him, when placed under the noose. The chaplain, who appeared much affected) then began reading the burial service. Lamson, meanwhile, was supported by two gaolers. Just before the cap

Ponishinf the Crime of Crimes,

A Minnesota Mob Disposes of a ChildRavisher-

ST. PAUL, April 28.—About one o'clock this morning a party of masked men appeared at the jail in Minneapolis and demanded the surrender to them of Frank McMonus, a tramp who revished and brutally mutilated a four year old child, Nina Spear, yesterday. The Sheriff was made a prisoner by the mob, but refused to divulge the whereabouts ot McMonus. The mob then made a thorough search of tliG jail, breaking open every cell on the first floor without finding the prisoner. They then ascended to the tloor above and repeated the ceremony of breaking open all the doors until McMonus was found. He was taken to the house'of his victim wlwre he was fully identified and without further ceremony the mob took him to a large tree iu the front of the High School building and hanged him from a limb. At 4:15 this morning, before McMonus was strung up, he confessed his horrible crime. He was a tramp, 26 years old, and caa.e from Boston. Excitement ran very high during the night, both in Minneapolis and St. Paul, and public sentiment ie indisputably wilh the men who thus administered justice for one of the most atlroc ious crimes in the annals ot Minnesota. The child victim is in a precarious condition, with a doubtful chunce of recovery.
