Hayes confessed to haying taken one box, and was discharged, butlioient evidence could not be obtained to convict the others, they will remain on the force.

Tuesday morning a register in Garrabrant & Cole's dry goods house was taken up lor repairs. Not knowing it Miss Mamie Smith fell in and was considerably bruised.

I have watched the use or the mediolm now known as ''Swift's Syphilitic Specific'' over fifty years, and neverheard of a failure, to euro when properly taken. I commence*, the use of it on my slaves, between 1850 and 1865, tut also did a number of my neighbors, and In every case that came within my knowledge it effected a cure. In 1835 Ueo. Walker, bought at auction a slave not warranted. After the purchase it was discov ered he had had Svpliills for twelve years His head was without a hair on it. He treated him with this remedy, and ii? four weeks he was sound and well, and in a short time had as fine a head of hair as was ever owned by a negro. He owned this slave many years, and he naver had any return of the disease, nor lost a day's work.
