rhs Publisher of the Chisago In ter-Ocean.

Gives, in that paper, the following unsolicited testimonial, which speaks for itself: Offieo of the Inter Ocean. Chicago Jan. 10, 1880. Drs. Btarkey & Palen, Gentlemen:—It is contrary to my rules to eive certificates to the many healing remedies that are advertised, but my experience with Compound Oxygen has been such that I feel it my duty to recommend it to all my acquaintances suffering from overwork and a tendency to pulmonary trouble. In October, 1878,1 was in very poor health. My system had been much overtaxed, and a cold contracted in the spring seemed to have taken permanent hold on my lungs I had had several slight hemorrhages, was troubled with a cough, and was much reduced in flesh. I was discouraged, and my family much alarmod at my condition A friand in Boston sent my wife one of your little books, strongly recom mending your remedy. I was besought to order the Horn a Treatment, and did so. I lollowed instructions faithfully, and in three monslis was anew man. My troubles had almost entirely dis appeared. The improvement had been quiet, but certain and sure from the time 1 first began its ns -. 1 feel very grateful to you for it, tirnl wish that I could persuade all suffering in a similar way to preservingly use your very simple and effective remedy. llusine.SH is very confining and exacting, and when I lake cold and feel myself running down, I resort to Compound Oxygeu, and it is always prompt in its results. I feel like commending it to all. It is not a kill-or-cure remedy. If it does not cure it surely does not injure.

THK last candidate for the office of County Treasurer, Mr. Charles A. Miller, of Cutnininsville (Cincinnati), Ohio, says: "I have had occasion to u«e. St. Jacobs Oil several times for horsea, and always fVuud its workings wonderful enough to surprise me. St. Jacobs Oil never fails to cure, and no owner of a livery stable should be without it."

A Brave Girl-

ST. LOUIS, Bept. 24 —At Harding's coal mine near west Belleville yesterday alternoon Maggie, the adopted daughter of John|Holmes, aged 14, and Dickey Holmes his son, aged 5, went about to gather coal. The ooy went upon what is called the "{-lack pile" which is generally in a state of smouldering fire. HP had reached about the middle of the heap when the smoldering mass caved in, enveloping the hoy in its fiery mass. Maguie. his foster sister, jumped in after him with a view to save the bov. She got him out but not before his little body was burned almost (o a crisp. But her own clothing caught fire and was frightfully burned. Her fries brought the miner to her assistance. He was in such a hurry to stop tlio train that he pulled the bell cord in-two.
