At the present, date the prospect of a
full crop of peaches in this locality is unusually favorable The* backward condition of the bud3 would seem to be a guarantee that the crop is safe at least until the first Of May.
If there is any virtue in our exulting over other people's failures most of the peach growers in this part of the country are enjoying that rascally kind of virtue to an unusual degree.
From the best information I can get ftotn the great orchards in Delaware and Maryland, the fruit Duds are cot only killed but that "before there is another big crop ttere. the trees will have to be yet grown,'* for the present orchards are entirely dead, or in such a condition as will never produce another crop of goo«l fruit.
There may be dome exaggeration in these reports, bat we'know that the peach tree is short lived' at besty abd that where successive crops are produced and the fruit not thinned thait thedffcof die tree is much shortened, white the quality of the fruit Will decline with fee trees. Although the Eastern orchards beffe a crop last year I had regular customers fox raw peaches in the State Of New York, and for c&ned peaches in New York city,
