CAMPBELL—FROST FAIR. From Friday's Daily.
There came tlear being a fatal affray at Campbell's saloon, in the alley back of the of the postoffice. yesterday morning about 2 o'clock, in which Charley Frost was seriously if not dangerously wounded. The difficulty began in the faro room above the saloon between Frost and some other player, who had charged him (Frost) with having cheated him out of ten dollars. This led to a dispute, and finally to a quarrel, which resulted in Frost's knocking him down and pelting him with spittoons, to the serious detriment of the spittoons and imminent peril of the prostrate man. The fight was finally quieted, and all went down stairs, where it was presently renewed by Frost's knocking the fellow down again, after which he drew either a dirk or open knife and swere he could whip any blank blanked blank of a blank there, and started toward Campbell, who drew his revolver and fired three 6hots (some say six), two of which took effect, one passing through the outer fleshy part of the left thigh, the other entering to the front of the point of the left hip bone and ranging downward, probably lodging somewhere in the re gion of the right hip joint.
Frost was standing near the door opening into the alley when the shooting began, and made his escape by that way after he was shot. He walked to his own saloon after being shot, where he was visited by Drs. Stevenson and Preston, and afterwards moved to his home on north Fourth street.
Frost is getting along reasonably, and there are n^ present apprehensions of the wounds proving fatal.
The revolver with which the shooting was done was probably a 38 calibre, which is
a
large ball and shoots with
great force.
