FATAL ACCIDENT.

5? .•

Klartin Glicit Killed by a Falling

From Saturday's Daily.

Yesterday afternoon a deplorable and fatal accident occurred about five miles West of the city, in Sugar Creek township, by which Martin Glick, a young son of Abraham Glick, formerly of this city, lost his life. He was out "in the woods alcne, about a quarter of a mile from the house, felling a tree for the purpose of catching a coon. The tree was a large walnut, about three feet in diameter, and he had been engaged for a day or two previous in the cutting. The noise of tha tree's falling was heard from the house about four o'clock, but nothing was thought of it until about half an hour afterward, when his failure to return ex cited alarm, and search for him was immediately made. He was found near the fctump of the tree he had felled, with his head crushed by a large limb that had fallen on him. It appeared {hat he had moved very littie from the tree when it fell, and that the limb which struck him had been broken off in falling and thrown back by another tree which was bent by the falling one. The limb struck him on the upper part of the forehead, crushing it in the most terrible and ghastly manner. Death was probably instaqeous. When found the two dogs that were with him were watching by and seemed to realize what had happened. The deceased was about sixteen 3'ears of age.

SM THE LEHRER ROBBERY. Policeman Walsh and Schaffer last evening arrested August Overtree on suspicion of being the man who robbed Samuel L^hrer on Strawberry Hill night before last. Lehrer's story of the robbing is that while he was eating a dish of ojsters in a restaurant on East Main street, on the night of the robbery, he noticed two men, who watched him closely while he pulled from his pocket some"- bills to pay for the oysters. From the oyster saloon Lehrer went to his wagor^ which was hitched near the public square, and-while getting into his wagon one of the men whom he noticed in the restaurant came up and said he was going down his way, and asked to, ride. Lehrer- assented, and as they1 neared Strawberry Hill the man caught him by the throat and demanded the money, or he would kill him. The man then forcibly took the money from Lehrer's pocket, and jumped out of the wagon and ran. Lehrer, who lives some eight miles south, is expected in to-day to identify the prisoner. Overtree has already 6pent one term in the penitentiary, and has good prospects of spending ano&er.

TO SOME GIRLS, v' From the New York Graphic. So you want to marry a rich man, do you? YQU want to live without work? Between Dives ahd Laza'rus you would fire Lazarus out, eh? Good. Now, what does the deliberate intent to "marry rich" mean? This, when interpreted in plain English:

You are willing that a man should pty tor the roof over your head, the food you eat, the clothes you wear. You expect him, in addition, to furnish you with spending money. And what will you give in return? Your company. You are willing to supervise his household, providing it is stylish and there are ser vants enough to anticipate every exer tion. You will dress, come down to dinner and play the charming hostess. But is this always remunerative for his outlay? Does the rich five or ten year mar ried man's life always prove it? Are you willing for money to be simply ertdured? Are you willing to sit in your comlort able seat and give Dives all the scope and rein he wants outside? After all, have you much reason on your side for complaining if his fancy wings itself in other directions? Practically, j-ou choose his money^not him. You have what his money brings. Should you not be content? Did you not prefer to eat the bread of a gilded dependence? You have still what you married—money, position, diamonds, servants, a carriage, a summer cottage. Are not these enough? Heart? Affection? Faithfulness? Nonsense! You did not wed them.
