arranging for its appearance in this city, on Satyrday, October 4th. Judge C. Y. Patterson received a telegram Saturday, from his wife, at Evansvilie, informing him that her mother was dying. He departed for Eyansville on the afternoon train.

D. R. Locke, better known to fame as Petroleum V. Nasby, is in the city. He is for the present accompanying a troupe, which is playing his dramatiza tion of the Widow Bedott Papers, or rather his drama entitled Widow Bedott, for the play, really owes little to those papers except the namfes of the two chief characters and a few of the situations. The dialogue is the work of Mr. Nasby. He witnesses the representation of the piece eich night, as he will to-night, and busies himself making additions or alterations or eliminations as they occur to him from the reception of the piece by the audience.

He will remain with the company until New York is reached, which will be in a month er more. This evening's will be the fifty-fifth presentation of the play.

Mr. Peter Kizar is the champion raiser of mammoth beets. He lately presented a monster weighing sixteen pqunds and a quarter, to Messrs. Wright & King, and it is now on exhiWfiort at their store. It is by odds the largest ever shown here.
