BUCKEYE* DEMOCRACY.

Bishop's LetterjAccepting the Nomination of the Ohio Democracy,

For llio (iiibernatorlal Haco.

COLUMBUS, O., August 3.—The follow ii.g is the letter of acceptance of R. MIlishop, Democratic candidate for gov ernor of Ohio:

CINCINNATI, Augtmt 2, 1877.

Eons. J. II. Benson. J. O. Thompson, and //. E. O'Hagcn, Committee: GENTLEMEN: Your official communication «f lib date of July 27th, informing me of my nomination for the office of governor, by the Democratic state convention, is at hand. I appreciate the hifch honor conferred by the Democracy of Ohio, and while keenly alive to tfce great responsibilities 1 assume, I trust, it elected, to be able, under providence, to discharge faithfully and impartially the duties of the position. It is sufficient for me to *ay that the principles adopted by the convention have my cordial indorsement 'they are wise and patriotic, awd it^ properly executed in the administration of *he government will greatly tend to restore confidence and prosperity to the country. We are now passing through a crisi# in our commercial, if not national, existence. Capital and labor are seeking to adjiiBt their respective rights this adjustment witl require mrwst thoughtful consideration and deliberate action. In «o far as it may depend in any degree npon the action of our state government I would certainly do my utmost to effect it on terms beneficial alike to laborer and capitalist. The times call for the moBt discreet management and economical administration of public affairs the mere assertion of principles will not meet the emergency, they must be vitalized, energized, so as to restore confidence to our financial, commercial and industrial pursuits.

If called by the people to the head of the administration et affairs in this state, I «hall endeavor, by conscientious discharge of duty, and careful guarding of the interests of the public, to merit the respect and commendation of the people irrespective of party.

Respectfully Yours,

,, R. M. BISHOP.
