Immediately upon the report of their guns a series of howls arose from behind "the havstack, and the hunters, astonished at hearing a bear swearing in pretty plain Engligh, got away from the neighborhood without standing on the order of their going. The bear was found and carried home by some friends. 1 he doctors have already picked about a quart of bird shot out of him and haven't half done their work.
