INCENDIARISM.

train which left, here this morning ran off an embankment 15 feet high, near the crossing of the Han Joaquin river, at noon. One passenger was fatally, and a number seriously injured, names not given. Kenator Morton, of Indiana, and party, in a special car in the rear of the train, were unharmed. Four cars were demolished.

THE RIOT AT LOS AM ELOS. Latest advices of the Los Angelos horror are worse than the fir?t. The mob appears to have been actuated solely by animosity of race and desire for plunder. Witnesses before the coroner's jury are giving testimony with* apparent reluctance, under fear of retaliation. The testimony implicates two Irishmen as having boasted that they assisted in killing Chinese, The Chinaman who shot officer lielderain was arrested and turned over to the authorities by the Chinese themselves, and is now injjail. Only four of the rioters were arrested. From §14,000 to $30,000 in money, and all the valuables belonging to the Chinese were carried off by the mob. Even those arrested were robbed on their way to jail.

SENSATION.

LITTLE KOCK, October 'Si.—The removal of J. F. Hodges, postmaster here, and Jo-eph Brooks, attorney for this dis» trict, by the President, at the instigation of Senator Clayton, causes a profouud sensation. They are the two leading opponents of the (Senator in the Kepublican party in this State. Clayton men here are much rejoiced, and think it will have tlie effect of insuring their success in the city election, where their chances were very slim before.

of Consump

tioa is derangement of the digestive organs. This Ocrangcmcnt produces deficient nutrition and as-

3y assimilation, I mean that process

ny whicli the nnt.-ime-it of the food is converted into bloo:'., and th^co into the solids of the body. Persons With di -estion thus impaired, having the ^lightcs-t predisposition to pulmonary disease, or they take cold, will be very liable to have Consumption of the Lungs in some of its forms and 1 hold tliat it will ha impossible to cure any case of Co!!Piimp::on without first restoring a good digu»iiun a:iU healthy assimilation. The very first tiling to be dene is to cleanse tlio

Etomach

and

bowels from all disease.! mucus and slime which are clogging these organ- so that thc-y cannot perform tTicir functions, and then rouse up and restore the liver to a healthy action. Fortius purpose, the surest ar.d hest remedy is Schenck'a Mandrake Pilb. These Pills clean the Etomach and b')\veL- of all the dead and morbid slime that is rau.-in^ (Hica?e end decay in the whole system. They will cle:.r o::t the liver

of

'hat has accnmulaicd there, and arouse It up to a new and healthy action, by which natural and healthy

cecretcd.

The stomach, bowels, and liverare thus cleansed by the use of Schcnck's Mandrake Pills hut there remains i:i the stomach an excess of acid, the organ is torpid and the appetite poor. In the bowels, the lacteal* are v.eak, ar.d requiring strength and support. It is in a condition like this that Schenclc'a Seaweed Tonic proves to be the most valuib'.* remedy ever discovered. It is alkaline, and its us2 will neutralize all crccss of acid, making the stomach sweet ar.d fresh it will give permanent tone to this Important organ, and create a good, hearty appetite, and prepare the system for the firt't process »f a good digeelinn, and ultimately make good, healthy, living blood. After this preparatory treatment, what remains to enre most cases of Consumption is-tho free and persevering tii-e of Schenck'a Pulmonic Syrup. The Pulmonic Syrup nourishes the system, purifies the hlood, and is reaaily absorbed into the circulation, and thence distributed to the diseased lungs. There it ripens all morbid matters, whether in the form of abscesses or tubercles, and then assists Nature to espel a'l the diseased matter in the form of free e.~ »fctora!ii::i, when once it ripens. It is by t!:: gre::t healing and purifying properties of Sc!»::ic'.t°.« Pulmonic Syrup, that all ulcers a:id ctvities are healed tip sound, and my patient is en red.

The essential tiling to he done in curing Consumption is tn L'et up go.id appetite and a gooil digestion, to that the body will grow in flesh and tret, strong. Ifa person has diseased lungs, a cavity or a!.se there, the cavity cannot ileal, the matter can u.t, lijvjn, fo long as the system is below par. What is iiece-sarv to cure is a new order of tilings, :i pool! appetite, a good nutrition, the body to grow in flesh and get fat: then Nature is he!p"il. he cavilies will heal, the matte" ivili ripen and he thrown utr in large quantities, nud the person regain health and strength. Thii is the true and only plan to cure Consumption ind if a person is very had. if the lungs re aot jnlirely desti-oved, or even ifonolungif entirely ^one, if there is enough vitality left in the of

whatever tI«o form maybe. It is important, tl.at, while tiring Fchenck's Medicines, care should be exercised not to take ^old keep in-donrs in cool damp weather avoid ni^lit air, and taico out-dour exercise only ii. apenial and wann sttnsliinc.

I v.lsh it distinctly understood that when I rcmmend a patient to be careful in regard to taking cold while nsin^ my medicines, Fdo so for a «pecial reason. A man who lias but partially recovered from the effects of a bad cold is far more liable to a relays': than one who has been entirely enred, and it is precisely the same in regard to Consumption. So lon$ as tho lungs arc not perfectly healed, just so long is there imminent aangcr of a full return of the disease. Hence it ii that I so strenuously caution pulmonary patients against exposing themselves to an atmosphere that is not nenial andjilensiint. Confirmed Consumptives' lung's me amass of sores, which the least change of a mosphero will inflnme. The grand secret of my success with my medicines consists in my ability to subdue inflammation instead of provoking it, as many of the laculty da An inflamed lun cannot with safety to the patient bo exposed to the biting blasts of winter ot the chilling winds of spring or autumn. It should be carefully shielded from all irritating influences. The titmo caution should be observed in iliis particular, as without it a cure under almost any circumstances is an impossibility.

The parson should bo kept on a wholesome and nutritious diet, and all the medicines continued until the body has restored to it the natural ipiantity of flesh and strength.
